wait. I thought that the nerdy law-review glasses-wearing librarian chick lawyers were always so impressed by Sebby's style that they let their hair out of those tight buns, dropped their glasses on the floor, opened their starched white cotton shirts to reveal sexy red lingerie and proceeded to dance seductively on the closest table. are my sources wrong on this one?

Saw the Iguanas in a lovely outdoor setting last night. They've been around forever, but I'd never actually heard them, as far as I know. Well worth checking out for those who like roots-rock with a strong Latino edge. Kind of a poor man's Los Lobos, but enjoyable.

On an entirely unrelated note, I'd forgotten how much I like Cake's first album. Recently popped in on a long work-related drive (sadly, for a mediation, not for "depositions"). Sure, they skew to the novelty song side at times, but nobody else sounds like those guys. I'm pleasantly surprised that they've been done so well.

And yeah, I saw them several times before Rock and Roll Lifestyle broke. Sadly, however, I failed to get the rock and roll tee-shirt, to prove I was there, that I heard of them first.

What a coincidence! I'm doing that right now, although I'm alone in my office and not in court.

You should check out Los Lonely Boys, who the guy at my local record store described as "having listened to their dads' Santana and Los Lobos albums a lot when they were kids." They're out of San Antonio, and they've taken off in these parts like wildfire. I dunno if they've hit it big nationally or not, but I like them a lot.

Cake is gonna be at ACL, and I'm excited to see them. I've never had an opportunity to get the tee shirt, cuz I was never there, but I think I have all of their albums, and they get fairly good airplay on the RT playlist.

There getting some play in these parts, and, I have to be honest, they don't impress me. The sound like "Los Lobos" lite, dumbed down for airing on Clear Channel stations. Maybe I simply haven't heard enough of them, but that is my first impression

You are confusing Sebby's life with an Herbal Essence (could those be any more obnoxious?) commercial.

OOooohh, I've got the urge.

I saw The Iguanas last summer in a lovely outdoor setting. They were dance-in-the-aisles enjoyable.

Ollie saw The Iguanas this summer in a lovely outdoor setting. They were Los Lobo-esque but enjoyable.

I saw The Iguanas last fall in a less lovely indoor setting. They sucked. No amount of alcohol improved them.

CONCLUSION: The Igaunas are only enjoyable in a lovely outdoor setting.

Concur. I like them too, but only recommend seeing them at street fests or other outdoor venues. Just not as much fun indoors. Only possible exception would be one of their gigs at the Rock n Bowl in New Orleans.

I carry a torch for no one (not to be confused with carrying a torch for Know Won, NTTAWWT) other than Mrs. Not Bob. Well, that's not true. I am obsessed with Ashley Judd. I still have a crush on a chick I used to work with. I also have a thing for the late, lamented babe of pigs. And whenever I see a movie with Uma, I think longingly of bill killer (btw, I saw you last night in "Paycheck" -- you were delightful as always, and it was a pretty enjoyable flick, I must say).

Uh, where was I? Oh, yes. Sebby, I love your shtick. Except when you bash Bruce Springsteen. Or when I think that your shtick is wrong. Anyhoo, the mocking of law review weenies is Not Wrong. I was praising you with faint damns.

There's a whole series of pic, in that particular outfit, as well as a couple others of her with her tits hanging out all over the internet. The girl has a major problem keeping them in her blouse. And it's happened enough times that one begins to think it can't possibly be accidental.

Tell that to little Rita. (yes, Rita).

On another note, I found out a short time ago that my friend's boyfriend (when we were all about 15) wanted to have a threesome with her and me. She never told me this at the time, and the threesome never materialized. He was hot! (and presumably still is). Hot and nice and funny and intelligent - in short, almost perfect. Two questions:

1. Were you all having threesomes at 15? Apparently my crowd was (unbeknownst to me), or at least seriously contemplating them.

2. Is it wrong for me to be just a little bit annoyed with my friend for not letting this happen (although I can see her point - I would have mostly just participated in the whole thing in a lame attempt to steal him away from her, and that is not a nice thing to do to a friend).

They're getting some play here as well. And funny you should mention Santana. I'm not sure which song of theirs it is (most recent single?), but I swear to God, the first couple of times I heard it, they sounded like Santana with Clapton as a guest vocalist. It was kind of odd listening to it with that thought in my head, but good nevertheless.

Flash forward to about a week ago, someone recommended a CD from a local group. awash in musical boredom, I bought the thing. I really like it, but a have a problem. N.B. this is a honest question, and I know several of you listen so maybe you'll have advice.

8 lines into the first song is the first "niggerz." After that it occurs on average every 3 lines.

Right now I am listening in my car with the windows up. I guess I've seen college white boys listening to it with the windows down. I cannot imagine a white lawyer doing the same. I cannot imagine playing it when we have friends over.

am I paranoid? riddled with some type-guilt?

Anyone worked throught this? Particular "clean" CD's for spring afternoons with the windows down?
Just listen to the CD. You have the street cred to pull it off.
