I don't know what sort boards you've visited in the past, but the sexual suggestiveness of your choosen emoticon is inappropriate for a professional lawyers chat board. Perhaps this explains the reason why your co-workers suggest that you do not raise basic salary issues with your bosses- your co-workers fear you do not know how to communicate in a professional atmosphere.
