Kruk is so fucking dumb is embarrassing. Harold Reynolds wasn't doing himself any favors by claiming that Jon Garland was performing so well b/c he is a 5th starter and gets to face other 5th starters. Right, b/c 5th starters match up with each other for the rest of the year -- dumbass.
After my husband and I split up, I stopped watching Sportscenter in the morning because we used to do that and talk about how the anchor people annoyed us so much, and I figured that would make me sad. I have been missing it lately and so I figured enough time had passed that it wouldn't make me sad anymore to watch it. So I turn it on, and wouldn't you know it, fucking Stuart Scott annoyed the hell out of me within about 1.5 minutes, if that. Then they did that stupid Ultimate Highlight reel. I ended up changing the channel. So, if anyone is still a regular Sportscenter watcher, has it gone downhill in the last 6 months? Stayed the same? Gotten better? Should I give it another chance?

Dear TM:

You know that normally I don't get involved in all the various feuds on these boards, preferring to stay in the background, but I feel that I must respond to this post. I have a confession: I have not always been the ultra cool, witty, good-looking fellow that you all know and love. No, in fact, for a time longer than I'd care to admit, I was downright awkward, gawky, socially inept and downright uncool. And I'm willing to bet that at some point in your life, you were too, if only for a moment. And yet you've lost touch with your past, and become blinded by your current coolness, as if it was always so and always will be so. I cannot sit idly by while you pick on the weak. I'm here to tell you, and the rest of the "cool" kids on these boards that I was NFH, and some part of me will always will be NFH.

I am NFH.

What is Necronomicon? Or do you mean Cryptonomicon? If you mean Cryptonomicon, I did not find it spooky. I liked it a lot.

ETA, because Flinty's cute, I am NFH.

Why? Just because they are allowed to break up a double play when sliding into second? It's not like when Albert Belle knocked Fernando Vina into next week, because Vina was standing in the base line (and that rule applies to first base). Millar was flat on his back and simply wanted to interfere with Cano's throw to first. It's no different than if he stuck his foot out and tripped Cano, if Cano had been trying to run to first to tag the bag himself.

He made a good deal of money during the late 80s/early 90s skate boom. Then he went bankrupt and lost everything during the bust. However, he kept skating, and it was kind of nice to see him cashing in when I started skating again a few years ago.

I've since retired from skating again, as my ankles seem especially prone to injury and slow to recover. I was never able to come up with a good explanation when people saw me limping around in air casts and asked me how I hurt myself. The truth provoked funny looks coupled with subtle admonishment. Lucky for Tony he didn't go to law school in his lean years.
Ah, yes, I knew him from the 80s - wasn't Thrasher the mag then? I didn't know he went bankrupt - just know that I've been amazed to see him still kicking around (and still skating! and making money!) 15 years later.

Who was the big freestyle guy way back when? From Florida, maybe?

When you get really rich from doing all the law stuff, you can build a 20-foot-high concrete wall around the back of your palatial estate and skate in private to your heart's content, with no mocking eyes present.

Flinty is cute, isn't he? I wanted to say something like "I am NFH" too, but now it will just look as though I'm piling on.

Thanks a lot, fringe.

I think Flinty is cute too, but I am actually Spartacus, not NFH.

OK. I'm just saying that when you're going to second, you're allowed to intentionally mess with the fielder -- sliding wide of the bag, rolling, etc. -- in a way that you're not when you're going to first. Not having seen the play, I'm willing to accept that Millar went too far.

Is this what it feels like to root for A-Rod? When the White Sox acquired Belle, I detested rooting for him. Of course, he came from my team's hated division rival, so maybe it's different.

I'm Tiger Woods. But enough about me.

You will all be Tony Hawk-style X-static to hear that Celtic is back in action, playing their first pre-season friendly against Fulham in London on Saturday. Even more exciting is your impending opportunity to buy, at the low low price of about 40 pounds sterling (that's $6,984 in American money), the brand-new Nike away strip I am modeling below (I am discreetly indicating my package because it was a BDD):
