I think it's kind of a cool idea. The one at our table would be bigger for the cake cutting and when it came time to eat wedding cake, the servers could just bring out cake cutters and people could serve themselves however much they wanted. I think it would work because the venue has different spaces for each of the dinner, dancing and the ceremony, so even though dinner will be outside in most-likely warm weather, the cakes (as centerpieces) only need to be on the tables during dinner.

What do you think? I'll be over here in my princess bed watching Grey's reruns while you think about it.

the individual cakes will solve some worries I had. I'm allergic to lemon, ironweed hates chocolate, and flower's vegan, so 1 cake wouldn't work. on the down side, our wives want to sit together:eek::confused:

now i have to give actual advice- the table cakes are a great idea. each table has 4 couples, how does anyone expect a centerpiece.

the cake idea is something I"ve never seen, and something different is pretty rare. I say do it.

The Piper Sonoma in the yellow label is $15 and it's a very good $15. It's a bit fruity and tart, but for that price, I'm more than satisfied with it.

I think it's an awesome and creative idea. I've only taken home centerpieces if I was a really, really good friend of the bride, and even then, it's not that common in the weddings I've been to. Quite honestly, I firmly believe that eliminating the flower budget (aide from a bouquet or two) isn't a bad idea at all. Usually, I'd recommend sending the flowers money over to the booze budget, but this is something people will remember. And bonus for cake lovers, there's always some weirdo at the table that doesn't want cake.

Hey now. Some of us "weirdos" are busy enough with the drinking that we don't need "cake." But I like the idea of shifting the flower budget...

Certainly Roederer Estates has a fine ancenstry but what's wrong with what the french call "champagne"? I had some Louis Roederer 02 last week, and understand why 02 is being hailed as the vintage of the century, so far. In a moment of prescience, back on September 18th I cashed out some investments in funds tied to the Dow and put the money into champagne so that I could drink well while the world went to hell, and, the investment is paying off, instead of being down five figures I am knee deep in French bubbly. At least a bottle a night, two on Saturdays.

Tonight though, in honour of the release of the Nouveau I am pouring some real Beaujolais. The Gamay grape is a honourable sort and needs to be recognized for more than the glorified grape juice of the Nouveau release. Instead some Fleurie from Pierre-Marie Chermette. Smashing!

Yeah, I really like the idea, but I think that some might be disappointed, as chevy notes. However, I think I might be inclined to say fuck 'em. It's something quite creative and not gimmicky, so if you and your "good bride" like the idea, do it.
