I'd have put something by the Beatles on my list, but I can't pick an album

I'm sure the list would be different in a week.
The Beatles - The White Album
The Cars - The Cars
Jane's Addiction - XXX
Yonder Mountain String Band - Mountain Tracks Vol. 1
The Velvet Underground & Nico

Beatles - Revolver
Nirvana - In Utero
Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley
Star Wars Original Soundtrack
You put that last one on there to woo me, right?

Thunder Road - Bruce Springsteen
Nevermind - Nirvana
Doolittle - The Pixies
Sketches of Spain - Miles Davis
Synchronicity - The Police
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot - Wilco

ETA: YHF, Yes, I realize that there are six there. So what?

You can just about hear the warden cringe when Cash busts out "San Quentin, you've been livin' hell to me...."
Also when he asks for the bag where he keeps his dope. Good stuff. One thing has always puzzled me, though. When you look at the audience on the album cover, they're all white. Don't black prisoners like Johnny Cash?

Mine, for purely best rock albums:

Exile on Main Street (I don't think a better album is possible)
Revolver
Rubber Soul (both perfection in the pop songcraft side of rock)
Highway 61 Revisited (a tough choice over Blond on Blond)
London Calling.

Honorable mention Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Sticky Fingers, Never Mind the Bollocks, Nevermind.
What?
Not Rock and Roll High School?

Doolittle is on my second set (6-10). As for the Star Wars soundtrack, I really meant it--I can listen to that and it brings me back to 1977--although if it succeeded in wooing you, so much the better. Care to share a bottle of lum?

Great band, great songs, but no albums that belong in the top 5.

If I was listing impact albums (on me), I'd have to add some Cheap Trick, Ramones, Jane's Addiction, 'Mats, Los Lobos. Come to think of it, Kiko is pretty close to overall top 5.

All pretty good, except I've never really seen the attraction to Los Lobos - but I'd have to add some KISS in there.

Like just fine, though based on limited listening. Just not a name you see often in "top 5) type discussions (unless it's "top 5 bong rawk bands").

Queens fan?

Yeah, I hear you. But if I was stuck listening to 5 albums forever, I think I could handle this one on heavy rotation. I'm also assuming there's a lot of pot. And yeah, I like QOTSA. I have very crude tastes.
