The Wikipedia talk page for the show says that they do speaking engagements, mostly at churches, where attendees are encouraged to buy autographed photos and to make "cash love offerings" for the family. I think the veiled reference to a job change with more flexible hours may be just that. Also, Jon recently accepted a free hair transplant under the theory that his receding hairline is the fault of his "stressful" family -- by which I assume he means his shrew of a wife.

I'd go for a cake that imitates a glazed pot in a cool color (or white on white elegant basketweave) and then have edible flowers that are a bit taller

I agree. That's why I said, "more intricate cakes in this style, with a white "pot" and appropriate flower colors."

No. This defeats the purpose.

Even better, I think a centerpiece of cupcakes could be made to give a "flower" feeling. Because the cupcakes are stacked (like the bride, I'm sure). Also, a cupcake stack will be a good ice breaker at the table as people (inexplicably) get positively giddy over cupcakes. When you and the bride cut the cake, folks will grab their little cupcakes and will be all into it. I am on a permanent, never ending wedding circuit these days and nobody wants to eat the boring sheet cake cut by the bride/groom. In fact, some people even think the cake they're eating isn't even cut by them but instead, the kitchen has a bunch of slices they start handing out on cue after the cutting. Cupcakes -- *sniff*. Fringey where are you?

Even though the bride is stacked, I'm gonna say no on the cupcake concept. I don't like it at all, even though I love cupcakes.

No. Someone has stolen my frickin' time. And since you're being an ass, I will now have to work actively against your efforts to land decent cocksuckers to your BMA party.*

When do the B/G cut more than a slice? I can't remember ever seeing them cut the whole thing . . . it's always sliced by some professional with as deft a touch as Zorro and a bunch of plate handlers. Dragging a cake from the kitchen would take as long as these folks do to get it out (where it sits on the table while people get jiggy wit' or with it.

My sister's wedding had 1500+ attendees so they pre-sliced a whole bunch of cake in advance.

What the hell show is this?

In 8 years, when it's in syndication, I'm sure I'll tune in and think I've discovered some new gem of a tv show.

Much like I'm only right now hopping on the boy-band wagon (sts).

It's called Jon and Kate plus 8 and it's on TLC. I have not watched it ever because it sounds terrifying.

It is. And fascinating all at the same time. I've stumbled on it while channel surfing, and have watched a few episodes. Probably the most fun is watching efforts for the parents to get away without the kids. Because the parents don't want to drop off eight kids with one volunteer (or they can't find anyone crazy enough to host all eight kids at once), the parents drive all over tarnation, dropping off kids. The editing is such that you'll watch for 10 minutes - "we dropped off [x] and [y] at [z]'s house, [a] and [b] at [c']s house," and then realize that they still have four kids to go.
