If Hank starts sounding sober and intelligent, I am going to go home and go back to bed.
You say "incorrect." Cletus and I prefer "against the flow."

Say what you will about ppnyc's family and youth sports, at least they stay with the broad outlines of the law.

  • "Psycho Dad" A Philadelphia Football Story

In what could be some of the worst childrearing since Mother Bates, Wayne Derkotch, of Philadelphia stands accused of aggravated assault after a sideline argument at his son's pee-wee football game, Sunday, degenerated into a gun fight. According to reports, it all started when the 40-year-old father approached coach Jermaine Wilson about getting his son more playing time. An argument ensued after Wilson told him he wanted to run up the score before putting in other players and Derkotch began cursing. Witness accounts vary somewhat but the 34-year-old coach either told him "to step aside" or "take it to the side" so they could "settle this like men." Regardless, fists started flying, 6 and 7-year-olds started screaming and parents scrambled to protect them from the two rampaging adults.

Allegedly coach Wilson, who has 6 inches and 20 pounds on Derkotch, was winning the fight when when Derkotch pulled a loaded .357 Magnum from his waistband and everyone hit the deck. (Do parents typically come strapped to pee-wee football games?) Perhaps realizing he'd gone too far, Derkotch ran to his SUV and threw the gun inside. Before he could drive off though referee Shawn Henwood, ran in front of his vehicle to take down the license plate and Derkotch's brother Paul "slapped the paper from his hands" and "lunged at his neck." Police arrived just in time to catch the referee slug Paul, in what has to the most child-warping football game since Eagles fans pelted Santa Claus with snowballs.

If you read carefully, you will see that I was not referring to all Newbers, but rather just "right-minded" Newbers, which I assume is the category of Newbers we are attempting to attract here.

I doubt I'll keep it after the free three month introductory period, but I am really enjoying Bluegrass Junction.

Train and Epiphany

So when the train passed and I was down on wounded knee my life sort of flashed before my eyes....they often say that happens and it is true.

Prior to this, I wanted to send a friend an email with some fairly difficult things to think about, things that friend may or may not wish to hear at this time. Should I send it? I'm thinking I should.

Well, since the train didn't change your friend's life, what makes you think said friend needs to hear your candid thoughts now more than they did prior to this morning?

Just send it. Thurgreed can handle it.

Is it trite to buy into that "Life is short and can be ended at any time?" Do you really want to go having left things unsaid?

I sound like a Hallmark card/tv special :(

So why were you hesitating sending it in the first place?

By "difficult," do you mean "things I want to say but my friend doesn't want to hear, but my epiphany has led me to realize that that I have to unburden myself, because my life could be short, and after I am dead, I will think about what I left unsaid, but my friend will live on in blissful ignorance, and I wouldn't want that?"

If so, go for it.

Because this person is involved in some personal drama in which I feel that the other person involved is manipulating he/she and I am not sure if the person is ready to hear that right now.
