Someone tell me why Nixon and Schilling are so intent on talking shit about ARod? I don't understand it. Don't they understand that they look like idiots criticizing any of our players after they've won exactly one championship in the last 85 years? I know ARod's the new guy, but get a grip. TM |

This. Is. Awesome.
A bunch of people were irritated with rush hour traffic along the Katy Freeway here in Houston. To prove how insane the whole concept of sitting in your car for hours at a time in traffic is, they "raced" the freeway for a mile using non-cars: a horse, a rickshaw (passenger was drinking a martini), a Segway, a guy on stilts, a bike messenger, a guy on rollerblades with a buddy on his skate board (for some reason the duo was dressed like Daryl Hall & John Oats), a runner.

And with that, I think I've snatched the title of Canadian name-dropper of the day away from str8. |

Almost all non-Yankee fans think this. He's great, no doubt. But he's a little bitch. And that glove-slap move didn't help. I think it's because he signed the most ridiculous contract in sports history, got himself caught in a Catch-22 (his contract was so huge they couldn't surround him with talent), and then cried until he was traded to the Yankees. He's the greediest of all greedy athletes: he wanted his cash and a ring too. He's the prime example of what everyone hates about professional athletes. |

Any team and all their fans would want him on their squad because he is a tremendous talent (notwithstanding that I still think he's a huge fraud in that he seems to be so un-clutch). We got him at a large discount and would have been stupid not to sign him. The Red Sox went after him harder than the Yankees did. They didn't finish the deal and all I heard was how pissed off they were that they couldn't get it done. (And it wasn't his fault it didn't happen as he was ready to eat part of his salary.) The slap at the glove thing is the most blown-out-of-proportion play in sports in the last 20 fucking years. I'm glad he did it. Showed me he wanted to win. Good for him. He should have slowed up a bit until Arroyo was in the baseline and then ran right the fuck over him. When Kent Hrbeck illegally pulled whoever-it-was' leg off the bag on a pick off move to first base in the World Series back in '87 and the ump mistakenly called the guy out, no one said shit. ARod's slap was no big deal and didn't even influence the game (except to hurt the Yankees). I agree that ARod is a greedy, self-centered POS, but who the fuck is Trot Nixon to start shit? And Schilling couldn't be more full of himself, taking way too much credit for an amazing comeback that had more to do with Derek Lowe (kicked to the curb) and Arroyo (and numerous other Sox players) than him.
