I know that. From the A&W days. But there's no bleach in the wipes. And the Chorox website doesn't say what they use to disinfect.

Well, what's in it that kills the germs? It's not bleach.

And you know, that most of the germs at work are not in your office, right? Do you wipe down all the door handles and the refrigerator handle?
Do what I do, when someone is sick, forbid them to come into your office, don't go into their office. And wash your hands like someone with OCD.
I thought that ammonium chloride was the technical term for bleach. Ammonium chloride is what is in the wipes.

I have recently become a little obsessed with making sure my work area is not bacteria-ridden, after reading an article about bacteria-ridden work spaces. So once a week, I wipe down everything with one of those Clorox disinfecting wipes. Am I harming the environment or creating superbugs by doing this? Note that Clorox disinfecting wipes do not contain triclosan. Thanks in advance.
Sleep in my son's hockey gear. That'll kill those stupid office wimp bugs.

I just walked to Border's to get that Jonathon Ferris book. Leaving to walk back I had to cross an 8 lane road (Woodward). So 4 lanes/median/4 lanes. I ran across the first 4 lanes and got to the median. Looking up I see a cop was sitting across the next 4. I haven't heard of any jaywalking ticket outbreak, but still, to play it safe I walked on the median to the next cross light. I had an excuse prepared in case the cop came up, but he didn't.

then a few blocks later I was at another intersection with a "Don't Walk" signal. caution to the wind, i crossed.

I was thinking, are those were 2 acts of Jaywalking or 1 jaywalking and 1 something else. Is "jaywalking" just crossing in the middle, or all bad walking. According to wiki, both are jaywalking.

And i learned this:
  • It is a compound word of the words jay and walk; in this context, jay is used in the obsolete slang sense, referring to a stupid or dull person, or a rube, i.e. someone from a rural area and not familiar with "city ways." At the time, vehicles and traffic signals were a new concept, gaining popularity in the larger cities, so this term would have been used to describe newcomers who were unfamiliar with these recent developments and by extension, to ridicule people who behaved like newcomers but should have known better.

and this:
  • In Singapore, first offenders face a fine of S$500 (US$285) and three months of jail. Repeat offenders can be fined for up to $2000 fine or six months in jail.

I don't know if I was a "repeat offender" or if you need an intervening conviction first, but I would be much more compliant there, i bet.

Fran Drescher wasn't bad looking. As I recall, she was kind of hot, no?

And fuck Longoria... Take a look at the woman divorcing Salman Rushdie - Padma Lakshmi. Find some nude photos of her... Jesus Christ is she fucking hot.

For a marriage/wedding, would it be in any way wrong to request contributions to some charity in lieu of gifts? Is that only OK for funerals?

Don't worry Hanky Panky, I'm not getting married.

I've been to two weddings where contributions to specific favorite charities of the couple were requested in lieu of gifts -- both times it was politely done and I thought it completely appropriate. (Both were lesbian weddings, actually, now that I think about it.) The couple at the more recent wedding used this site as a registry: www.justgive.org. The earlier couple -- they got married around 1995 -- just gave information about the specific charities on a separate insert card with the invitation.

There's also www.idofoundation.org, which has both a charity registry option and a registry where the associated stores will donate an amount equal to 8% of the gift purchases to the charities that the couple identifies.

ETN: Actually, that idofoundation website says it's "up to" 8%. Most stores donate only 3%.
