The wine, as well as my prowess, speaks for itself. the screw top is just additionally suggestive. Ask your wife.......

I have done so recently, aand determined that my feelings for Hank are not nearly as strong as my feelings for you. Rest assured, my Darling.

No shit. I'm kind of disappointed we gave him an extra year (although, let's be honest, it ain't my money). He was (literally) huge in his contract year. It's definitely going to get worse. But we have to build a staff starting somewhere.

True. And if the Sox had signed him I would be telling myself it's a great deal, too. It is--he's a good pitcher and will probably pitch well for a while. The Yankees, like the Sox, can afford to eat some huge contract at the end if he stops performing. Hell, the Sox gave Schilling $8m to do nothing (and knowing that would be the case) and paid Manny $7m to play for the dodgers just this year.

Lotta money for someone who was 6-8 with a 3.83 ERA against the AL last year.

If the Sox had signed him, we could have handed you the World Series for the next 3 years.

The questions now become, can we (i) sign Burnett or Lowe (Lowe probably a better bet because of the durability), (ii) retain Pettitte, (iii) keep Joba injury-free and (iv) develop Hughes into a major league pitcher (I suspect we will--I think last year's poor showing was because of injury).

If only we had allowed ARod to walk. Oh well. I guess we have to win during the first 3/4ths of the regular season* too.

TM

*ARod's favorite time of year.

Wasn't that due to a hitch in his delivery--like it was too flat or something?

No. It's because the NL can't hit. Manny had to show them how it's done in the AL.

I think you added a letter--you meant "too fat", right?

Manny hits better than anyone else in the AL and NL when he wants to. The fact that he was so awesome with the Sox without really trying is mind blowing. But Sabathia's AL era and win/loss record last year is the product of the first however many games or so when he was having serious mechanical problems.
