The President’s recent speech on international terrorism was magnificent.

The New York Times [AND MANY LEFTIES ON LAWTALKERS.COM] in two foolish editorials [AND POSTS, RESPECTIVELY] published on the next day, October 7, 2005, sought to denigrate the President instead of trying to add to our security by strengthening him in his leadership when he has taken on the ferocious, often insane, Islamic terrorists who believe they have the right to kill every infidel -- Christians, Jews, Hindus, et.al.

But he should also know that I stand with him and extol his courage and willingness to stand up for the U.S. and all peaceful nations.


Bravo!! There's a Demo I could vote for. I have communicated my solidarity to Koch's people who will be meeting with him and will let him know the Patriots of this Board support his courage and leadership.

Bilmoure, I think I speak for both sides of the spectrum here (notwithstanding the cat-poopie taste in my mouth from the left side) when I say that we welcome your reasoned logic, righteous thought and moral clarity back to the board, but please, no recycling of posts from 2002. We try to stay current here.......except for Ty@50, he's a futurist.

Censored, but effectively deleted, sadly, on at least two occassions. That of course doesn't count the posts and posters who have completely disappeared who we have no record of. Many thought you had been "redacted".

In my role as an educator of youth I recently had the chance to observe some cutting edge techniques in early elementary education. One of the things that struck me was that no matter how many times some of the slower children of the left wanted to calculate 2 + 2 as equaling 5 or 1 or 3, the teacher circled them back to the correct summation. He explained to me that sometimes it takes months or years for these basic concepts to take hold, but caring compassionate teachers must maintain the committment, for the future of our country.

This makes me giddy.
 

On a better note, Dick Morris writes, in his new book, that Condi Rice is the Great Right Hope for beating Hilary, and that she will do so.

I remember ncs PM'd me her conception of the Ty@50 sock when she first saw the photo that became the avatar. It was a fully formed sock at that very moment.

IIRC, I think they are still busting Ty's nuts about one post, many months ago, in which Diane Keaton(?) had posted a grisly picture of charred human remains in Iraq (the contractors in Ramadi(?)), and Ty deleted that picture and replaced it with a link to the picture (with a warning as to content).

Ty had acted after receiving at least one complaint about whether the image was work-suitable.

Outrage ensued, in which the theme was that Ty was an apologist for terrorists, an overweening liberal weenie, and hated America.

Did I miss anything, or is that reasonably complete?

No fucking way. Mao controlled more than half the country by the time we got the bomb, and the KMT (which, interestingly, had Soviet support initially in its struggles with Mao) was toast by the time the war was over. All of those millions of US trained and equiped troops so lovingly pictured in Life melted away because Chaing's generals were too busy running their black market businesses to actually fight a war.

Sarcasm aside, the Congressional GOP was damn near that -- especially in the House, but this nomination occasioned the big blowup which broke the lockstep and brought much festering resentment to the fore. The GOP had exercised extraordinary unity and discipline for a long time -- eyes on the prize and all that.

See how the GOP leadership in the House just reversed itself and supported a bill to offset Katrina recovery funding with spending cuts? (Necessary to appease the small government, fiscal conservatives -- who had been bitch-slapped on that issue just before the Miers appointment.)

Per the WaPo article -- in the GOP caucus where the reversal was announced, every single standing committee Chairman stodd up and opposed the announcement -- talking about how the cuts couln't come from their bailiwick.

The next few months should be interesting.

P.S. It won't be Gore. OTOH -- all the negatives are known, the Clinton scandal has further receded, and he looks good next to Kerry.
