me: i'm sorry, if it makes you uncomfortable to be called mr. spookyfish, i'll just call you spooky.

but if you do require an answer for why i am using formal terms, it has to do with my fondness for s&m roleplaying (i like to roleplay during my s&m or maybe i like s&m during my roleplaying) a partial answer can be found in a previous post on the old detroit board and the related thread.

as for the roleplaying, i think it makes the spanking scene more fun and also helps with the punitive aspects of the spanking. i noticed very quickly, that no matter what role i play, i am always am playing a role that is inferior to the role played by my boyfriend. which in a way is part of the fun, because in real life, my boyfriend and i have a very equal relationship outside of the bedroom. it is fun to see that sweet and loving man act like a strict disciplinarian. although the most common roles i play are bratty schoolgirl and child, when i play an "adult" role, i always play an subserviant role such as a maid or a secretary or other low level employee being spanked by her boss. interestingly enough, i never play the role of a ga being dominated by a partner, because that is too close to real life :)

of course, i guess you should replace my saying "boyfriend" with "fiance" since we got engaged between the time of that post and now.

but if ms. naughty diplomat is too formal for you, you can call me ruthie.

love, ruthie

wouldn't you be mr. cello before you become mr. bass?

but in any case, if my calling you mr. violins bothers you, let me know and i will stop doing it.

and as for my thongs, i'm currently in more of a plaid skirt type of mood - and i generally don't wear a thong under my catholic schoolgirl outfit because i prefer to wear more appropriate panties for the role that i am playing. of course, if i would wear a thong, i would guarantee that at least one of the reasons why i would be getting a spanking would be a uniform violation ;)

That's okay, ruthie. I just usually eschew formality in my personal dealings. I think of my dad as mr. spookyfish, even though I'm probably getting to the age where I should be more used to it. He may have. The only reason I got on the subject was because I did happen to be flipping through the channels and watched the program I went on about ad infinitum on the other board. He was great, he was obviously gay, and I thought it was funny that the program spent so much time on the subject. Plus, I was channeling the old CTD just to keep the board going. Some thought it was funny and played along, some didn't. No big deal either way. And you may be right about PPP, don'tchaknow.

mr. spookyfish,

you mean to tell me that you are pretending to be a naughty schoolgirl on the fashion board today??? pretty kinky, but i can't imagine that you look very sexy in the uniform :P

oopsie, silly me, i guess that you would be pretending to be a naughty schoolboy - although i doubt that mr. violins would be as willing to give you a spanking though - are you hoping that i would do it ;)

but in any case, i suspect that your oppositition to me calling you mr. spookyfish dropped when you started picturing me as a student wearing my uniform of a little plaid skirt and white blouse and acting very naughty in a strict school where you are a teacher and corporal punishment on the bare bottoms of naughty young ladies is not only allowed, but is encouraged ;)

i agree with you, mr. violins that its rediculous to compare brobroke with cleveland firms.

but its really interesting to hear from an arter & hadden partner about another firm did wrong. at least the arter guy didn't say that brobeck made a huge mistake by moving into several new markets - and spending more concentrating on trying to become a national firm rather than shoring up their home base such that the problems in the "branch offices" - especially their washington office (which went from something like 75 attorneys to 20) is causing damage in their ohio base.

No, ruthie. First things first. You're right. I wouldn't look good in the uniform because I clearly don't have the legs for it.

Actually I was pretending to be the original funnier CTD from the evilboard. I thought the Mr./Miss/Mrs. thing would add to some of the stilted formality I always sensed in 'em's posts. I was bored to death today and spent a lot of time perpetuating this goof. As a bonus, I pissed off Thurgreed, but that wasn't really that hard to do. :) But hey, I kept the damn board moving.

Back in the day when I went to catholic school, we had nuns in charge of teaching and corporal punishment. Hard-bitten, full habit, take-no-shit brides-'o-jesus. While I must admit, I have a fondness for attractive ladies in short plaid skirts and mary janes based upon my memories as a student, I cannot think of anything even remotely sexual or appealing about those two images juxtaposed.

Call me what you will, I'm really very easy to get along with.

Interesting article, but it made me think about something. The article made mention of the firms that had to sack attorneys for one reason or another.

It made it seem like all of the firms who had to make cutbacks because of the economy, but a number of them used different reasons for doing so. More than one firm representative stated that they reduced headcount because of staffing needs, or those amorphous "performance issues". I'm wondering if either of you has a take on whether someone cut because of these performance issues is permanently stigmatized because of it.

Granted, I know there are screwups everywhere, but if you are a BIGLAW attorney and are shown the door for those pesky performance issues does that mean you'll spend the rest of your career as an outcast? And to your knowledge, have attorneys that have been let go because of this either landed on their feet or more importantly, been deserving of this dubious honor?

As a side note, I notice Brobeck paid for a presentation by CNN's Willow Bay, and I thought to myself, "Willow Bay! If ruthie ever changes her posting name again, that would probably be perfect. :P
