I do think they tried to make Jesse into more of an underdog than he really was. He was 23-1 coming into the show and his last 5 fights were against some pretty respectable opponents.

Reid's record is also impressive, but there's quite a bit of padding in it. He's definitely fought a few pushovers, even later in his career.

And I think Ishe's getting scared. I'm starting to wonder if Hollywood really IS going to beat him.

I don't think Ishe's getting scared. I think he was thinking "team" before and now he's thinking about himself. Why should he fight now? If I were in his shoes, I would want to wait until the last few fights as well. It's not like he's going to get out of fighting. And I think there is some creative editing going on when it comes to his nervous looks. And he is way in Hollywood's head. There's no question about that.

I was sorry to see Reid go. I liked his style. I hope they don't foreshadow the outcome every episode by focusing so heavily on the soon-to-be loser's family. That fucking sucks.

Jesse's wife was fat and ugly. I can't believe they bring their kids to those fights and teach them how to scream "Hit him! Kill him! Yeah! Destroy, destroy, destroy!" Especially with the younger kids who are shown hiding their faces during and crying before the fights. Not healthy.

Prrrrro-maybe. I remember it being curvier, though. But it wasn't a convertible (or if it was, it was a hard top and the top was up) so I'm not sure.

The top is hard, not cloth. When it's up it looks more like a bubble.

You're right that there's some creative editing going on. It's classic Burnett. This is the guy who became THE master at editing TV shows in an attempt to thwart and throw off Survior Spoliers.

Because of that, I'm not buying into the underdog editing anymore. I'm going to look up the boxers and see what the deal is with them. Take a look at the middleweight ratings at this site and you'll see some familiar names.

Too true about the families. Do fighters typically bring their young children to their fights? I'm thinking they must not since most of these kids seem to be watching daddy fight for the first time.
