Those days are over. Pierce will not be able to defend James if they see him in the playoffs. No chance. Guarding him in the regular season vs. the playoffs is a different story. And I'm not even going to look at the stats from their last playoff matchup because James is even more dominant than he was just a year ago.

All of of this is true.

But the one thing he is not is graceful. Besides the talent, will, drive, jumping ability, etc of MJ, it was how everything he did flowed. It was almost artistic. LeBron is all power, no grace. It's not a knock on him; it's just that he doesn't look as pretty playing the game as MJ.

You will get no argument from me. I'm the biggest Jordan fan you know. But there is something to be said for power. I would like to seem him take on even more of a young Barkley attitude and attack the lane with the intent of throwing it down with two hands. You stick your hand up to block it? I'll break it on the rim.

Indeed.

He's like Shaq with the skills of point guard.

I would have liked to see a healthy Celtics team play a healthy Cavs team this year. Last year I was pretty confident that the Celtics would win, but it was close. This year, I would have been less confident, but it would have been a lot of fun to watch.

I sure hope Kevin Garnett's career isn't done for.

Doesn't Washington D.C. deserve a major-league baseball team already?

And speaking of hoops

Yes, Lebron is a monster.

But how about Brandon Roy dropping 42 on Artest and Battier? Blazers still have an uphill battle after the egg they laid in game 1, and Houston is a terrible match for them, but B-Roy is a stud.

I don't see why it's the place of the league to punish Vick, per se -- that's the job of the criminal justice system. But the league will suffer if it's seen to welcome back an unrehabilitated criminal, and it seems legit to let it protect itself in that regard. Perhaps that's a fine line?

didn't Connie Hawkins break the "you did bad so you can't play in this league" rule, or the ability of a league to have an agreement like that?

I agree. Even though I hate the Celtics (mostly because of Pierce and Garnett--I like Ray Allen), I would love to have seen a really good defensive team devise a plan to stop Lebron.

And even though Garnett turned into a huge asshole when he finally signed with a winning team, I hope he fully recovers.

the Pistons used to do a good job on him. He's grown in all the areas Thurgreed mentions. We don't do such a good job anymore.

Yes. Unfortunately he plays on the West Coast, so I really only pay attention when playoffs roll around. He and Rose amaze me in that they're so young, but play like they've been in the league for 7 years.

You know what I like about this video (besides the amazing, ridiculous plays)? The fact that after each one of them, he immediately turns around and runs back on defense. No stupid fucking poses. No chest thumping. No angry face to the crowd. No "What?!" yelling? He did the amazing and it was routine. Get back on D and dominate there too. You never heard an announcer say, "Michael's man beats him down court for an open lay up."

Or at least a uniform company that can spell.

Exactly. The NFL is responding to its consumers. That NFL consumers see Vick as a bigger criminal than the others you listed is sad. Very sad.

the MJ or LJ question is still unfinished of course, but if LJ takes the crown this year he will have done it with way less tools than MJ needed. MJ had the headache kid and still needed a great 4 to make it, and after losing Grant and before getting Dennis Chicago stumbled. LJ ain't got nearly as much help.
