From My Inbox - Let's All Dial In

Wtf?

Quote:

dear attorney,

my rn filipina wife was raped by a federal agent some years ago and i was assaulted for bringing it to the attention of the san francisco fbi office. My wife was subsequently raped again in retaliation. The matter is presently in congress [house/senate judiciary] and i have yet to see the appointment of an independent special prosecutor without conflicts of interest.

I am seeking an attorney for two reasons: 1st to initiate a formal investigation [since the fbi withheld evidence to congress] and 2nd on personal injury matters.

I have setup a conference bridge to discuss the case with anyone that may be interested in learning more. Each conference has a limit of 250 participants. The conferences are scheduled as follows:

April 30th @ 11:00am pacific:
Dial-in number: 270-696-1555
participant access code: 21273

may 1st @ 11:00am pacific:
Phone number: (724) 444-7444
participant access code: 46717

may 4th @ 11:00am pacific:
Phone number: (724) 444-7444
participant access code: 46718

may 5th @ 11:00am pacific:
Phone number: (724) 444-7444
participant access code: 46749

may 6th @ 11:00am pacific:
Phone number: (724) 444-7444
participant access code: 46751

may 7th @ 11:00am pacific:
Phone number: (724) 444-7444
participant access code: 46753

may 8th @ 11:00am pacific:
Phone number: (724) 444-7444
participant access code: 46755

if you are unable to enter the scheduled conference or have problems, simply phone me direct at the number provided below.

Thank you for your consideration.

How'd the call go? What kind of things do you think he wants to hear? I hate the pressure associated with these kind of beauty contests.

I'm just surprised to hear it wasn't a toll call. At $12.99 a minute for each of 250 participants, plus a week's worth of separate call dates, he'll soon be able to fund his own retiremen...uhh, lawsuit.

So, Hank, how long were you on the phone?

Where is the 724 area code? Don't you remember those phone scams of a few years back with an 809 area code, where you were calling the Caribbean for rates upward of $1/minute?

Ah, yes. The Eighth circle of Hell. I forget which specific ditches hold the telemarketers and other phone scammers.

You get all the fun spam. I'm still getting Nigerian scams and emails telling me I won yet another sweepstakes in the UK. Although to be fair, my most recent Nigerian scam spam (say that fast 10x) contained the following questionnaire:

"Now permit me to ask you these few questions:-

(1) Can you help me for the retrievements of this Consignment box in the security company here and to help me to provide a bank account in which the fund therein would be transferred into?

(2) Can you kindly stand for me as a guardian ?

(3) Can you kindly help me to make an arrangement to come over to your country to further my Education and to secure a resident permit in your country as soon as you claim the consignment in your possesion?

(4) Can you honestly take me as your own and help me out?

(5) Can I completely trust you?

(6) What percentage of the total amount in question will be good for you
after the money is in your possesion?"

I answered 99% to the last question, because I am not greedy.

I think Mel Gibson got one of these recently.

Probably Joe the Plumber. The IRS phone call scam likely brought in only limited returns, so I'm betting his business model has evolved to target a narrower but stupider and more greedy slice of the public.
