Right. I actually am pretty selective, and rather than (just) blow my own horn was pointing out that it's an advantage of the sorts of places I've been working for the last decade+. My other point is that the Clintons and Obama are in the position to be even more selective, and can be held to a higher standard.

That's up to them.

I have my own standards, they're different from other peoples, and I'm not going to impose my screen. Hilary gave a fantastic speech as part of the 10,000 women program at Goldman, she's looking to encourage financial institutions elevating women so they play a role in capital allocation in our society. That is fucking important, and I'm sorry if someone's general hatred of big banks gets in the way. With a foundation that has raised several shit-tons for aids vaccines, for example, I'm not exactly ready to play holier than thou with her.

I do a ton of work in the drug sector. There are people who hate drug companies. But I think that is some of the most important work I do, supporting clients who are having big impacts in diseases as diverse as diarrhea and AIDs associated cancers. Some Berner want to object - fuck him (it's always a him).

What's your foundation done?

He didn't get it much from his own party, as Obama did, true. But when Clinton got out of office and went on the speaking circuit, the Right criticized him for his fees. He initially explained it as necessary to pay his crazy legal bills. But after he paid those off quickly and he and Hillary booked @$100 mil in net worth over the ensuing decade, he took a lot of shots for it. That was part of the genesis of the narrative that his foundation was corrupt. People still throw around "outrageous speaking fees while his wife was Secretary of State" to suggest they're international pay to play artists.

Re Obama, I think a lot of his followers expected a vow of poverty from the guy. They're a bit unrealistic, not unlike Bernie Bros, in their expectations.

It was a much gentler time when an Ex-Pres could just slide over to Carlyle and cash out in deep secrecy, alongside ex-prime ministers, secretaries of defense and state, and generals.

If they don't like the heat, they picked the wrong kitchen to walk into.

Obviously a general hatred of big banks lies behind any criticism here. Sure, that follows.

I clearly didn't cash in on my government service in the right way. I'm just working on funding education for Wee Slothrops.

My point is, simply, that applying our own litmus tests to other people is a really bad way to work. Everyone has their own, and the diversity of interests is part of what gets shit done. I think this debate is about a bunch of self-righteous purists criticizing people like Hillary and Obama who frankly get a ton more good stuff done by engaging with whom they choose to engage. Whatever Obama chooses to do, he's just gotten more done than any of his purist critics.

Who, once again, can go fuck themselves, since they're not really accomplishing very much in the real world anyways.

The criticism here was "how it looks" but implied was "how it looks to lefty Berners," a significant portion of which hate big banks. Heck, a non-trivial portion hates any bank.

But I could see Sebby gaining traction as a Fox "commentator"

Ah, yes. Well, I don't give a shit about what the Right says about anyone. If he had cured 10 million kids of pancreatic cancer with his own hands they would have criticized him for touching so many children. The Right in this country is fucking ridiculous.

They are nuts, but that doesn’t mean they’re worth ignoring. Their criticism of Clintons cashing in was embraced by the center, and then by Bernie. And Trump used to it to tremendous effect on Hillary.

Today’s insane is tomorrow’s salacious meme.

Along which lines, I was impressed at how far they had to reach to object to the Starbucks Cups this year. All while looking the other way while Chick-fil-a advertising that they're selling "fresh young chicks" you can "devour".

Hell, Sebby bought it, hook, line, and sinker.
