Mrs. dL and I finally watched the pilot eposide last night. Holy. Shit. I realize that not every episode will be this intense, but I think that Bochco has another winner on his hands. Good writing, good acting (albeit from a bunch of relative unknowns) and a timely premise. All in all, good stuff, earning season-pass status.

I liked it too, but I'm wondering where it goes from here. I don't think I could take that level of intensity week after week and, frankly, the best parts were the character interaction.

They had to hook people with the first eposide, no doubt, and that was likely the reason for the mad intensity. I suspect that the violence will ebb and flow much like BSG. Last week's episode was pretty damned violent, but I suspect that we're in for a more introspective episode with less shooting etc. this week.

And this ldr-ee is a roadie for who?

My advice... don't do it. They're filthy buggers.

You're probably right. What's BSG? And answer me this:

SPOILER

Was that the HS quarterback that got his leg blown off in the last episode? I couldn't tell for sure.

BSG is Battlesstar Galactica.

And yes, I think it was him. it will be interesting to see what happenes to them re being disciplined, as they were on an unauthorized booze run when they hit the mines.

I'm really digging the new season so far, and I can't believe I loved an episode so much that had so little Starbuck in it.

Perhaps, but the current one is better than the next one. Trust me, I used my time machine and checked it out.

Entourage

Speaking of TV shows, I loved the undertaker-apprentice-freak from Six Feet Under on this week's Entourage. Awesome, as was the Pussy Patrol.

This week's episode was terrific. I wish someone would flush Ellen Tigh out of an airlock.

As for the Starbuck content, you are correct that it was rather limited, but the context that her scenes added was pretty cool.

Is the coffee place named after the character?

Starbuck was the frappacino-swilling first mate in Moby Dick.

Are you mocking me? Have some pity for those of us for whom it's still kinda early in the morning.

Not mocking, just being silly. Starbuck's was named after the Moby Dick character, but the Moby Dick character did not drink frappacinos. I don't think he even drank coffee. Or maybe he did, but I don't recall it from the book. Maybe the Starbuck's founder just liked Moby Dick or something.

It's plot lines like this that almost inspire me to start my own blog.
