Why is Aniston still famous? I don't read the celeb expose pieces. I like my celebs in their movies/tv shows. I couldn't care less about their personal lives.
She is famous bc she was Rachel for most of our twenties and thirties. Also, she was in OFfice Space. She got royally jacked and has taken the high road. She is a model for us all.

That said, her mouth looks a little odd on the cover and her eyes are too close together.

I could easily find out, but whats in it for me? A Serb update might do it.

No offense, but this may well be the reason why others of us will continue to call him exactly that, with renewed amusement.

Its a huge book. Should we set a deadline of the second Friday in September? Is that doable?
It seems that I am the only one with issues here so let's do this. Everyone start reading "Until I Find You".

Don't be so hard on yourself. Many people here have issues.

I'll read the book, but I'm making no promises that I'll be done by mid-September. Way too many out-of-town guests and the like during this period. I'll shoot for it though.

Unlike you, I have no life. You live in the entertainment capitol of the world, and I live among rabbits and apples. I will be probably done much quicker. We may start before you finish, but that is the price you pay for all your frolicking and socializing.

I understand and I'm aware that this is one of the risks of the frolicking and socializing lifestyle. However, I will give it my best effort. Let me know when you have read Collapse and we can discuss that one as well. Try not to get discouraged during the Nordic Greenland part - it does get better again after that.

I just read a review of that book. Here's my favorite part:

Quote:

The fundamental flaw in Jared Diamond's treatment of Easter Island is that he approaches the problems of its evolution and history with the zeal of an environmental campaigner, and not with the dispassionate detachment of a scientist. He is too much inclined to employ his historical reconstructions as a tool for the environmental agenda and subordinates much of his analysis to moralistic and preconceived intentions. Collapse is perhaps the prime upshot of the amalgamation of environmental determinism and cultural pessimism in the social sciences.

It epitomises a new and burgeoning doctrine expounded largely by disillusioned left-wingers and former Marxist intellectuals. In place of the old creed of class warfare and socio-economic driving forces that used to explain every single development under the sun, environmental determinism essentially applies the same one-sided rigidity to historical events and societal evolution.

At least four of us want to read the enw Irving, who does not suck. However, if people would either or also like to read a non fiction, the book the Devils Teeth, which is about remote islands and great white sharks, is supposed to be a delightful romp. If that is of interest to anyone. I pllan on reading both but I need to know which to read first. Right now its Irving.

Unless any Jewesses out there care to join me in reading the Modern Jewish Gal's Guide to Guilt, which I fear i may not be jewish enough to fully appreciate but I love Rebecca Goldstein.

His head, which was bald, was shaped liek the head of a penis, and the shape of his body was strantgely uniformly penis shaped. I think he must have been a no neck. Just that penisy dome head right into the body. I can picture him perfectly to this day. Wish I had a pic to post

Snippy does not make for a clubby board. you know I would never speculate on a lady's past. And even if you had seen one, that would be modified for you, not standard. You would have said that the guy looked like a penis w/ foreskin.

I pay attention.

I can't catch up

1) I hate IM. It prevents me from getting work done.

2) I am going to read John Irvings books first and then Collapse. I would suggest Empires of the Word to anyone. It is a long read but it is fascinating if you are into history.

3) I can't remember the other posts I was going to respond to. Oh I know. Someone said Irving was a bad author. Fiction is all about taste but a Prayer for Owen Meany might be the funniest book I have ever read.

Geez, I'd think you'd be more supportive of her right to free speech. I'm sure these aren't the kind of puppies who would bother your cats, Spankster, for chrissakes. She's just agitating for reform -- not actually kidnapping the puppies and saving them from their much-deserved fate.

It's funnier if one is a liberal and lumps you in with Penske and Hank (no offense). Your original post was a little ambiguous about whether you were protesting the use of puppies as sharkbait (which we'd expect from you, since you seem like decent guy) or protesting the intervention of cheese eating surrender monkey imperialists into the traditions of local fishermen in one of their last remaining colonies (which'd be Penske's expected position, along with a not entirely consistent-with-his-position picture of Hillary and Jaque Chirac torturing a puppy).
