I don't think any more or less of it because of Lance's marathon time. Nevertheless, I expected Lance to be faster in the marathon based on his superior VO2 max/lactate thresholds and general endurance conditioning. Can you honestly say you're not surprised that he wasn't faster?

His pacesetter (Alberto Salazar?) for the first part of the marathon mentioned that Lance was talking much more easily than he (the pacesetter) was, and attributed it to his cardio fitness.
I am surprised he didn't finish faster. His comments in the NYT made him seem more human than he has struck me before. He said he started feeling nervous when he saw the elite marathoners (and their skinny legs), and the crowd.
