Ha ha. Funny story and brings back some memories. Uncle Hugo's Bookstore is a cool sci-fi joint (makes me wonder if the thief was a geek as well as an idiot). Back when I spent a semester at the UoM in Minneapolis I used to go in there all the time for gaming stuff. Heck, I would hoof it over there twice a week all the way from Dinky-town. Cool place. Bilmore, you been there?

Jesus H. Christ!, most of those evoke images of porno stars rather than kiddies. This is the type of idiocy that Madison Avenue wreaks on a world filled with trend-following sheep that worship at the altar of irrational materialism. I imagine most of these parents are big supporters of reality TV.

Sad thing for the kids is imagine the inferiority complex little Lexus is going to have driving around in a Saturn. I see lots of prozac in these kids futures.

You know who else was scammed? The reporter. Anyone who has read one of those emails knows that these guys are incofrickinherent -- far from well-spoken.

I hate this kind of stereotyping. Just because the guy who scammed you was inarticulate, it doesn't mean all Nigerian scam artists are inarticulate. Sessions clearly got one of the snooty Oxford trained scam artists. Or, these guys are just bright enough to put on the act that will appeal to the mark.

I tried to find the answer on the Stalin board's archives, but I could not locate it. New Year's event is "black tie optional". I've attended "black tie" events before, and this "optional" thing always pisses me off. Sequels wants me to wear a tux.* I want to wear a black suit

*I don't own a tux. I've been thinking about buying one. Folks on the Stalin board said to not buy a 2 or 3-button coat, but I look damn good in the 3-button. Will it go out of style that quickly?

If it is "black tie optional" you may wear a black suit. Wear a very nice tie and a white shirt.

At a certain age (and I guarantee that you've reached it), a man should own a tuxedo. If you look good in a 3 button, buy it. If it goes out of style, buy a new one. You are not meant to buy one tuxedo for the rest of your life. Buy one you like for now.

Best solution. Buy a tuxedo. Sequels will be happy, you can count the $150 you would have spent on a rental tux to make her happy as a discount off the tux you buy today, and you'll never have to wear rented formal wear again.
