Have I ever been a prostitute? Thoughts?

One of my law school professor said that marriage was an institutionalized form of prostitution, so that's on my mind today.

I think the marriage thing is not apropos. I think the right response is, "Yes, I am a lawyer".

Can you fit this into the response space provided:

Well, I never!

A while back, I moved to another state and thought about becoming a member of that bar. I got the application, which asked me to list, among other things, every job I had ever had, with the boss's contact information. I can't answer that! That application sat on my desk, partially completed, for five years. And then I moved somewhere else.

I was going to waive into a jurisdiction that has a rocket docket, 5 months file to trial. They asked for every speeding ticket I have ever received, how many miles over, where I was going, why I was driving that speed, who the officer was, what court it was in, what the disposition of the ticket was.

Of all the varieties of deep thoughts, “X is basically a legal form of Y” is the shallowest.

Can you get citizenship by marrying a guy who failed to register* for Selective Service on conscience grounds?

*(Probably.)

Did your conscience object to having to register and then demonstrate conscientious objection to participating in a war for which you were later drafted? Or merely that providing this information to the government was more objectionable than providing that information to obtain a driver's license, a passport, a marriage license, and approval to be hired by the government?

Yeesh. Do I have to explain everything to you people?

Married to an American: 1999-2005.

Got green card: 2004

Had to renew green card: 2014

Finally decided to get citizenship: late 2014

It has nothing to do with Adder. Nothing has anything to do with Adder.

My conscience has objected to neither thus far, but I reserve my right to object to participating in a war when my ass is actually put on a line.

But right now my bigger concern is that you have sapped all the joy out of a post that was making fun of Adder.

He was hot though. Not just law professor hot. Hot hot.

I think that counts for something.
