Olympic etiquette

I think these etiquette lessons are kind of silly.

It's kind of nice that the Olympics are a gigantic sporting event that we can pretend would still be undertaken even if there were no television audience, or no audience at all, simply because it's still partly about athletes finding out who among them is the best in the world.
So to the extent the celebration consists of exultation at the sudden discovery that you are the best in the world, okay. But I think it's worth reminding American twentysomethings that if they behave as if this is the first and only time they'll ever be on television, they will regret it once the moment is over. "Hey, kid, do you want your victory to be shown on a compilation of America's proudest moments in 100 years, or on 'Back in Black' in three days? Your choice."
