I wear fingerweights so the mousework is highly aerobic.

Is there any risk of injury if you like stop swimming or swim too slow? Like the equivalent of falling off the treadmill?

Enquiring minds.

I don't know how dependable they are, but they look fucking great. My mom's worked on some houses where they were installed and showed me some shots of them. They looked really nice, and this was two years or so ago, so they probably look even better now.

The coolest of those indoor pools, however, is the single lane lap pool. I saw a photo of one of those in front of a huge window facing the sunset. Gorgeous. But why a fat old man needs it is beyond me.

If I were lucky enough to afford such an item, I'd have it connected to a steam room which linked into my bathroom. Thats a sweet set up.

I'm starting to get some speed back, too. We are swimming outdoor longcourse right now and today we did a sprint set. I was holding my 50s at 35-38 secs.
I've thought about looking for a masters team. I think I'd get back into shape fairly quickly if I was working out in a group with some pressure to not slow down. I'd be pretty happy with 35sec 50s.

Competitive swimmers spend a lot of time in that 2-3 hours doing stroke work, kicking sets, etc., etc, which all take a lot more time than just swimming straight. 9K is probably about right for a 3 hour workout. 12K would only be on a really distance-intensive day.

Then again, I was a sprinter, so I always did less yardage than the distance guys. Maybe they were doing 12K, I don't know.

And you're a tri-guy, so yeah, you swim a lot of distance straight.

eta: are you talking meters or yards? I'm talking meters.

I would travel to Canada for that. Especially if it involved lemon and powdered sugar.

Maybe it was merged into all the other Canadian pancake houses, like the RCAF.

Do it, you'll be happy you did.

I just took the plunge and invested in some equipment, too. 2 new box cut suits, a set of zoomers, and some nice paddles. Feels good to be back at it.

It's not in Canada. According to google, it's some shameless New York-based chain restaurant. Hmmpf.

That's weird. Do you see Canadian-based restaurants calling themselves The Great American Steakhouse or something like that? I don't think so.

As I said, I'm more sure about the yardage at this point than the time, but I would have put the average workout at about 2.5-3 hours. Sprint work tends to be slower (paradoxically). Iwas a sprinter, but my coach kind of believed in yardage. Psycopath.

A friend of mine in college was actually put on a weight gain diet. She didn't swim. Shit, she didn't do anything. But she couldn't gain weight no matter what she did. And she had a really killer body. She started trying to gain by drinking a milkshake a day.

I see her all the time these days. Still no weight gain. Some folks just get lucky.
