"It is also the genius of a city to be composed as much as possible of equals; which will be most so when the inhabitants are in the middle state: from whence it follows, that that city must be best framed which is composed of those whom we say are naturally its proper members. It is men of this station also who will be best assured of safety and protection; for they will neither covet what belongs to others, as the poor do; nor will others covet what is theirs, as the poor do what belongs to the rich; and thus, without plotting against any one, or having any one plot against them, they will live free from danger: for which reason Phocylides wisely wishes for the middle state, as being most productive of happiness."

The bad words were bleeped, so I would guess that I watched the censored version because it was on prime time tv last night. It would be funnier to hear without the bleeps, obviously.

the one that has been on has bleeps, I think, unless it is my Comcast-Nanny guard.

I watched this last nite, sometime after 11. At the end it advertised an uncensored version on Saturday at 1 AM.

That is all I know. YMMV.

The reward for the duck killer is up to $9000. I do not like to see animals suffer. I'm with Sebby.
Unless, of course, that animal is a snake. Even then, suffering is wrong. Death is OK.

Please keep me out of Lauren Bacall's mouth. I have some standards, you know. Okay, that wasn't true, but it was fun pretending.

The Planes Indians practiced polygamy, and one chief had three squaws. The first squaw lived in a teepee of elk hide, the second in a teepee made of buffalo hide, and the youngest in a teepee of hippopotamus hide.

Then he slept with each wife on the eve of his great hunting trip.

He was gone nine moons and when he returned, he went into the elk hide teepee and found that his wife had borne him a son. Likewise, in the buffalo hide teepee, that squaw, too, had borne him a son. So, imagine his surprise when he found twin baby boys in the hippopotamus hide teepee.

This just proves that ...

The squaw of the hippopotomus is equal to the sum of the squaws of the other two hides .

That might be a geometry joke.
No. It wasn't.

A Cliff's Notes for a classic novel typically will not convey all of the romance of the original.

1) My open applications have miraculously moved themselves to a vertical position on the left side of mycomputer. How do I make them go back to the horizontal line on the botton of my screen?

2) Can someone give me a BB6 recap for Saturday and any possibly interesing items from the feed?

However you measure it, I'd like to see the answer converted to an "impressive globes" unit of measurement, please.

(1) You can pick up the line over to the right of the start button and drag it down.

(2) No.

That wasn't a whiff. I was merely stating the obvious, not trying to make a joke out of it.

You, on the other hand, were trying to be funny, but foundering like a kiddie raft in a monsoon.

First, for you to post that you are stating the obvious is redundant given the thousands of examples we have seen.

Second, you are no judge of humor, at least beyond the broad obvious type that you exhibit in the best of your posts.

I'm sorry, but sometimes being nice requires being frank. When you speak with confidence, as in your above post, you really exhibit the gaping stylistic hole in your entire body of work.
