It depends on whether it is modifying a noun or not. I'm sure dtb will provide greater detail and clarity, but that is the short of it.

Oooh. So close. That is the rule for other compound adjectives (if it comes at the end of a sentence, no need for hyphen); however, the "ly" rule is true no matter where the compound appears in the sentence.

Really, people; how much is it to ask that you read the Chicago Manual of Stlye chapters on punctuation from cover to cover and memorize them?

What is it about Owen Wilson. i saw the wedding crashers last week and i just adore Owen Wilson and I can't figure out why.

It wouldn't compute. I can't see Owen Wilson getting worked up about anything, let alone a hyphen.

I saw Broken Flowers last night and it was really quite excellent. For a slow-moving Bill Murray movie, it is way better than Lost in Translation.

Really? I enjoyed LiT much more than Broken Flowers. I thought Broken Flowers was rather slow.

Yes, it was slow, but it didn't bug me.

I think it's entirely possible that I want to have one thousand of Bill Murray's babies and I viewed Scarlett Johanssen as competition - so that could have been why LiT did not do much for me.* I liked the hug at the end though.


*This doesn't make much sense because Broken Flowers is chock-full of women - potential competition. But none of them are (is? - damn) Scarlett. haha.

Anyone who hasn't seen "The Aristocrats" should do so at once. If only for the Christopher Walken impression, which is not to imply that the rest of the movie is not funny as hell, which it is. Funny. As hell. The rest of the movie.

I forget who here invented liking the Christopher Walken impression from "The Aristocrats" but to them I say mad props, big up, love the sistahs, etc.
