Thank you, all, for your input on my betting decision. You'll be glad to know that I took the under, and won myself a tidy (tiddy?) sum. I think I may retire now.

The guy came close, but only made it to 44. I can hardly believe he even got that far. I'm not sure if 44 includes the bunch that he stuffed in his mouth near the end of the time limit and had to spit out, or not. Either way, that's one hell of a lot of donuts.

You make a good point. The skinny here is that what did him in was the water-drinking. All agree it was a good idea to dunk (which he did), but that he shouldn't have been drinking water.

There's a forensic investigation going on now. I'll report back with the results.

However, Beal is a fascinating character (as are all the pros), and much of the action was not at the table. Beal took extraordinary efforts to be able to match up to the pros, and it was gratifying reading about the pros stew with their dilemma of having to give action to get action.

The upshot is that the tale is probably better than the telling, one that could have been a poker classic. Nevertheless, it is a lively and entertaining read that I read more or less straight though in a few hours. If you buy it, use the lawtalkers amazon link.

And don't introduce the Serbian to Andy Beal.

You seem ambivilent about the book. Is it reall worth reading? I will buy and read it if you think so.

I'm ambivalent because it could have been a great book. Instead, it's just an enjoyable read. It's an afternoon-at-the -beach or a plane book. It's probably required raeding if you're interested in poker, though, as you seem to be. Apparently, these matches are legendary among the poker crowd.

Kidding aside, welcome. As I was saying to someone else recently, the FB needs new blood. It was accurately called a "clique-y, ego-stroking circle-jerk" a couple of years ago, and it's only gotten more so since then.
