5. The thread title sucks. If the only way to get rid of it is for someone else to get to post #5000 on this thread, I'd vote in favor of a flurry of one-word posts to get there quickly. It would be less annoying than looking at this title for a long time. And I'm someone who generally likes the real-life Penske. |

We could get rid of the naming ritual, if it's such a pain in the ass.
I've got no problem just naming this board "Fashion Board" (or, if fashion really isn't the raison d'etre here anymore, and lord knows the fashion posts of late have been about as boring as baseball posts, then something else) and leaving it at that. |

This idea has merit. Maybe we could be a little more creative with it though. Free-association or something. |

Thread Title
I don't mean to post off-topic, here, but I just wanted to express my opinion that the new thread title is really really horrible. Really awful. I don't think anyone has a right to put something there that is not acceptable to all other posters just because he or she had the 5000th post of the previous thread and because this is what has happened every single other time a new thread has started. Moreover, I am very angry that I have to read this new thread title every time I read the board, except I don't really have to read it, I suppose, because I generally just go to the Forums page and click on the little symbol that brings me to the last post, and the specific thread title does not show up there, although I guess the thread title is always sitting up there at the top of the page, but I generally do not look there either. Anyhoo, I'm really mad about those instances over the next 5000 posts, or however many we have left, that I will happen to glance at the thread title because it is the worst thread title ever in the wold, maybe the universe.
O.K., sorry about the off-topic post. Today I am wearing a light grey Theory sport coat with broad grey vertical stripes, a white Geoffrey Beene dress shirt, and pleated (!!!) lightweight grey pants. |

What's interesting to me here, is that as everyone knows, and certainly you more than most, given our correspondence, I am close minded, sympathetic to facism, and racism, and a classist elitist greedy oppressor of the poor and minorities and really anyone disenfranchised in our society or the world. You on the other hand are progressive and open minded and rightously against everything I am so immorally for. And yet, despite these differences, when I relay a story, where I used a word that has some common connotation, yet otoh, has gained some offensiveness in our modern day society, and I note that I no longer use the word, even if my use is not intended to offend (i.e. I put perceptions of the unintended passerby over my intentions), you respond essentially that anyone elses perceptions or sensibilities are meaningless to you, as long as your use is not directed to offend them. And I am the asshole. Quote:

In light of the earlier posts about dreams, I had a strange one last night. I dreamed that my neighbor on one side was putting up a fence between our properties. It didn't bother me too much because he's the block Lawn Nazi and then he wouldn't have any reason to nag me about at my less-than-garden-magazine- worthy yard. But then the guys on the other side decided to move their (existing) fence about 3 feet over the property line and dug up my lilacs and most of my flower bed. In my dream I was sobbing about the flower bed** so much that I was surprised my face wasn't wet from crying when I woke up. I think it means I should mow my lawn tonight so the Lawn Nazi doesn't scowl at me. **Actually, I'm not that emotionally invested in my yard, hence the less-than-garden-magazine condition. |
