Later, douchebag.

Well, I don't want to pile on, but I was going to say that too. I especially liked sebby's heartfelt declaration of love -- very sweet.

God save us if Sullivan ever tries to fill in for Savage.

Indeed. But, given his dossier, what are his chances? Do we know if RT gives a damn about any trumpet-playing band?

Intentionally getting in the way of the double-play throw after his fly ball was caught. It hit him in the butt -- he watched it all the way in and let it hit him. Had the ball not hit him, Sheffield would have been doubled up at first.

Actually, the umps blew the call. Nevertheless, A-Rod intentionally broke the rules...again.
I'm no fan of A-Rod, or his white shoes from the all-star game, but how is this "intentionally cheating" any more than an NFL lineman holding, or a cornerback hauling down a receiver trying to catch a pass, or a guard hand-checking a dribbler, or hack-a-Shaq?

Watch some baseball and you'll see all sorts of things like what you describe (I didn't see the play). The double-play slide; a runner screening a fielder from a ground ball (moving at the last moment); a first baseman sitting on a runner after an errant pickoff throw. The game has rules that bar these things (sometimes); the umps enforce the rules; the umps sometimes blow a call. It's not cheating when the umps blow the call--it's a blown call.

Thats creepy. I just listened to Sultans on the way in to work this morning. I was having a 70s moment. I also played "Baker Street" and the Pistols' "Bodies."

The sax in Baker St is the second best use of horns behind Traffic and Little Feat (tied for 1st).

"Intentionally cheating" is a bit redundant, since "cheating" probably involves some intent. So I'll concede that I used the wrong phrase.

I'll also agree that players frequently act against the rules to benefit their teams. A-Rod's play was not one of those you normally see, though.

I watch more baseball than 95% of the country.

I thought you hated him, too? I think the board has discussed the reasons for hating A-Rod. Everything he says and does is too calculated, just like Tom Cruise. Plus, he's a cheater.
I dislike him because he seems completely fake and consumed with his own numbers. But the whole "he's a cheater thing" is ridiculous and applied in the most random way when it comes to him as opposed to every other athlete.

If you hate him because everything he says and does is calculated, then you hate almost every single successful modern athlete, from Jordan to Tiger to Jeter. They are all about the absence of opinion and try to make themselves into a perfect, generic, homogenous marketing machine.

If you can't scroll here to what you want, and past what you don't, you're pathetic.

The worst fucking topic of the past three weeks have been these boring fucking debates about starting new boards.

The reason floated for the insurgency board is idiotic. Slave hasn't posted here in weeks, and nobody needs to be “protected” from him. We’re fucking adults; behave like adults. If you don’t like something, move along. If you want to discuss books, do it here or join a fucking book club.

Spanky, you’re a great guy, and you provide excellent grist for dozens of funny posts, but for a newber like yourself to walk in here and start demanding huge changes be made to the boards is fucking annoying.

I think RT does an excellent job, and the complainers are lucky to have her babysitting and putting up with their annoying asses. And I love her. Yes, there it is. I love her!
Damn, when it rains, it pours.

Maybe the problem isn't with the calculation, but with the fact that he doesn't cover it up better.

That's because the play wasn't a common one.
