Yeah, he probably should be better, but it's hard to hit and field when you have all those huge championship rings on your fingers.

If you hate him because everything he says and does is calculated, then you hate almost every single successful modern athlete, from Jordan to Tiger to Jeter. They are all about the absence of opinion and try to make themselves into a perfectm, generic marketing machine.

I hate A-rod for the reasons you mention, too. I thought those were the obvious reasons that need not be stated.

I am indifferent with respect to Jeter, although I think he's highly overrated (except when it comes to the playoffs). He's maybe a top 5 SS in the majors right now. Tiger and A-Rod are very similar. I've disliked Tiger ever since someone saw him playing blackjack in Vegas and betting $25 a hand -- now THAT is a pussy. Don't get me wrong, he's the second-best golfer to ever play (and will become the best soon), and I respect his drive. In fact, his will to win is what A-Rod lacks. It doesn't seem like A-Rod cares whether he gets a ring or not.

Jordan? Yeah, he was a calculated marketing machine, but for some reason he seemed to transcend that. Some people have the personality to do that. Mantle was a marketing whore just like Jordan, but no one cared. For some reason, everybody loved both of them.

"Intentionally cheating" is a bit redundant, since "cheating" probably involves some intent. So I'll concede that I used the wrong phrase.

I'll also agree that players frequently act against the rules to benefit their teams. A-Rod's play was not one of those you normally see, though.

I watch more baseball than 95% of the country.
You don't want to get in a game of Oklahoma rules croquet. The basic rule is "It ain't cheating if you don't get caught."

The rule means you can "cheat" even though you're playing with friends and it's not wrong. Cheating is wrong, but crossing a line on rules hoping the ump/ref doesn't call something isn't cheating.

He wears his rings when he plays? That seems a little ridiculous. I don't wear my "Biggest Dick in the World" championship belt when I'm fucking.

Well, sometimes I do.

Later, douchebag.
Baltassoc- take heed. Less than 1 week ago Spanky was on top of the pile. He had his own board and most everyone liked him. Then he crossed RT, board gone- hero to zero by morning. Even Coltrane taking shots at the once great spankster?

Just be careful and realize what you've gotten yourself into. She can be a great friend but she is a powerful enemy once you've crossed her, and I'm not really clear what Spank did but it seems pretty minor.

This is a good example of when the exception swallows the rule.

I wonder if Mr. Lipschitz wears his Asslickers Championship Bag of Assholes Award when he's ass-diving.

I think that my dislike of the Bronx Bombers is well known here. Nonetheless . . .

There is no fucking way that one can call Derek Jeter overrated. Is he the best hitting shortstop in the game right now? He's pretty close to the top -- I don't think that anyone playing today has consistently had his combination of power and average. Is he the best fielding shortstop? No, but I'd put him in the top 5, easily. Is there anyone else who combines fielding with hitting the way he does? One of the contenders is playing third (A-Rod is probably a better hitter, not as good as a fielder) and the other has been hurt a lot lately (Nomah!).

And while he is consistent throughout the regular season, he is clutch in the playoffs. If anyone deserves to yank the title of Mister October from Reggie, it's Jeter. Year after year after year.

Bastard. I hate him.
