ISLAMABAD (AFP) - Pakistani opposition lawmakers walked out of federal parliament in protest at government proposed amendments to Islamic rape laws.

Rights groups have been demanding the government repeal the current laws which place an almost impossible burden of proof on women and expose victims to charges of adultery.[list]

I think race is an element that should be taken into account in determining who should be searched more carefully. Religion, too -- but that's a bit difficult to find out sometimes.

I do worry that this is the sort of thing that can get out of hand very quickly or be used very sloppily.

I recently watched a comedian who said they shouldn't bother searching black people who were getting on planes, because no black person had ever highjacked a plane and none ever would. You know why? There's no place to sell it. (He had a long, very funny, very un-PC rant on race and stereotypes and the like.)

I don't know if this is apocyphal or not but someone told me that Israel's policy on nuclear weapons is "they will not be the first to use nuclear weapons but they also wouldn't be the second". I always thought that sounded pretty cool
