Better looking than the sedan, at least.

I love it, but then I'm a slut for touring cars. I'll the big diesel (Europe only) and the six speed manual, please.

It will be even more so when they drop the 3.0 inline 6 under that hood...

Well then the CooperS with the John Cooper upgrade is starting to look less attractive as a 3d car option.

Not sure if the 3.0 will make it to the US (not sure if the 1er will make it at all, right now). But if it does, its being RWD makes it attractive as hell. The new Audi A3 sportback is pretty hot as well:

A car can massage organs which no masseur can reach. It is the one remedy for the disorders of the great sympathetic nervous system.

Even if you could get the 1 series here, it likely would cost serious money (for a car of that size and 0-60 times). A strong Euro and a(n apparently addictive) margin on other cars in their lines are making for tougher sells for European car makers trying to bring over smaller cars and less expensive cars.

Yeah, but would you want that in a FWD car that twists like a wet noodle? My wife used to have a plain jane neon, and it flexed like crazy. I can't imagine what a powerplant like that will do to it.

I'm all in favor of massively powered small cars, but a 300 bhp Neon sounds like a recipe for NVH, torque steer, and burnouts, and not much else.

Do you have any Grey Poupon?

The Car Connection looks at cars that say "you've arrived". Some of the choices are strange, but at least they're all interesting.

Not too mention that you're effectively flushing that $21k down the toilet.

"A used Neon? I'll give you $7k."

"A fast used Neon. I'll give you $8k."

Leasing it for your daughter I could see, but otherwise, waste of dough.

I was in a Caddy STS last week. They're pretty nice cars, and they feel like they handle pretty well. I was impressed. Very nice ride.

The Mercedes SLK is an awfully ugly and totally wrongheaded concept. Its ok to own one if you're a midget or you need something to cover the really long par fives in a hurry, but otherwise, you just look like a guy who's wallet couldn't get him into an SL, and lacked the sense to buy the much more attractive and much more comfortable comparably priced BMW 3 series convertible or Z.

I love that Jag convertible, but everyone I know who's owned one has warned against it. Plus, I think I'm about 30 years to young for it (and $30k in disposable income short of affording it). The Aston Martin DB9 convertible which has similar lines is simply magnificent. I see DB7s or 9s on the street from time to time. They might be the only pieces of metal that avert my gaze the same way a well endowed, fit woman bouncing by in a jog bra and short jogging shorts does. If I could fuck a car... nah, scratch that... If I could hold and caress lovingly a car, it would be an Aston Martin.

I like the sedan. Its worn on me. Hell, its miles better than that hideous 745i debacle they put on the pavement.

Somebody please tell the blind designer at BMW to wear down the trunk a bit more. It still lookes like someone slapped cutting board on the back of the car.

"BMW... the car for tailgating... Each model now comes with its own cutting board."

- Cut to smiling Stpeford Wife slicing pie on back of 745i -

"Bob, I've got an extra thick slice for you to start the third quarter."

- Cut away from long shot of college football stadium at small college -

"The ultimate entertaining machine.'
