Seriously.
Dude, I doubt if even your smoothest socks have the dilemma of having one hot, let alone two, woman after them. Keep dreaming.

I feel you. (!!) I have seen any number of interoffice relationships (even been in one or two) and I have never seen then affect the partnership chances of the lawyers involved. Maybe I have worked at particularly evolved places though. I have no idea. In one case at my old firm, a married associate started fooling around with a secretary in his section, left his wife for her and still made partner. It turned out later that the secretary-turned-wife-number-2 was crazy, though I think they are still married. The guy is still a partner at that firm today. Seems to be well-liked (and there is speculation that he and an also-well-liked associate there have been hooking up for some time on the dl).

I guess I'm saying shit happens. If your firm denies you partnership over it, either (a) you weren't that well-liked to begin with or (b) your firm is composed of a bunch of tight-asses*. I guess (c) all of the above is also possible.

*but alas not gwinky tight abs-es. (did you see my note to you at the top of this post, snookums?)

I was serious about the it's-almost-the-end-of-summer string her along strategy.

And the how-to question, too. And thanks for the answer. I don't know that I'm ready to go with the marital angst approach (a/k/a "my wife doesn't understand me") with the summers this year. I gotta feeling that this is something that requires a bit more time than I have with the current crop.

Alas. Maybe I'm just not cut out for furtive and tawdry, yet intense and mindblowing, sex (including ["toe-sucking"], of course) with the type of amoral hussy who would bang me merely to secure sufficient blackmail material to ensure that I come through with an offer.

Maybe I'll just hold out that stunningly attractive woman of delicate sensibilities for whom subtle compliments of her hair will work.

Not to scare your newber pal and distinguishable as not law firms, but:

1. Wasn't harry Stonecipher's recent resignation from Boeing related to an interoffice romance?; and

2. Clinton, impeachment. Nuff said?

Gosh. Big firm life sure sounds fun. I'm lucky if I even get to see woman in the office. Wo-man.

Damn it. I DO need a purpose. Or a schtick. Flinty, I'm no tribute. I'm not worthy.

She's not bad. Sort of like a more feminine Ann Colter. Tall, man-hands, husky voice. To be fair I have seen pictures of her as a kid and unless they were fakes, she looks to have always been a woman. It was rank speculation for office gossip affect.

Apparently my old one. As an aside, because I know you care and all, the only person I ever heard comment negatively about another associate who was linked with someone from the firm (like in a worrying "I wouldn't do that with my career" sort of way) didn't make partner when he was up for it last year. I'm so mean that I laughed when I heard that. I mean he really really wanted it. From what I could gather, my firm sort of figured personal lives are personal lives. And you spend so much time working with people, it isn't surprising when stuff happens.

Don't you hear rumors of this sort from time to time at your firm? Or are people there boring as shit?

Don't feel bad Flakey, your source material didn't leave you much to work with. I'll try to go all highbrow in the future and add more lively and intelligent discussion here.

That is probably the default strategy. After seeing her in action my only worry is she shows up at the office, drunk and frothing at the seams.

In comparison Hank generates enough material for 4 homage socks and at his core he is a pale homage to me or one of my socks.
