One theory (or maybe even the actual reason) is that they had to give it a bulge so they could claim it could fit four golf bags. Long par 5, indeed.

That's the stupidest list I've ever seen. None of those cars say "I've arrived" more like I got here in this. Caddy STS, know a person who bought this over the BMW 330 because she wanted big american metal. I has been in the shop 4 times since January - all for the transmission. GM - Get a Mechanic.
And the Cooper with the kit? Hm. Doesn't really say I've arrive. More like I want to drive really fast and scare people in the passenger seat who think they're going to die in a rollover on the next corner.

The old STS was craptacular. The new one is at least interesting, if only for the novelty.

You know, I've ridden in the thing and GM has yet to learn how to design an interior that isn't just plasticky crap. All the plastic parts looked cheap. And the seats weren't all that comfortable. Maybe because I don't weigh 200 lbs. There's not a lot of lateral support or lumbar.

That's not all that surprising. CTS, which looks terrific from the outside, is the same.

All this for $21k?

Plus, you can get a kit that raises the HP up to 280 HP and torque to 300 lb/ft. In a Neon!

Just don't hit anything. You'll be splattered like a ripe tomato thrown against a brick wall by Randy Johnson.

Concur. Mrs. dL was in an accident in her aforementioned Neon and she is very literally lucky to be alive.

"A fast used Neon. I'll give you $8k."

Leasing it for your daughter I could see, but otherwise, waste of dough.
Decoded: "That car is not sufficiently pretentious enough for me."

I repeat, holy crap.

Now you know why I will never, ever, pressure her to drive a stick shift. I just look at that picture, say "yes dear," and buy another automatic.

How does a stick shift cause an accident? Or as a result of injuries . . .

No direct correlation. She's just VERY skittish behind the wheel, and doesn't want to deal with the added "distractions' of having to think about shifting, etc. While I din't think that shifting is very distracting, she, who actually learned to drive on a manual tranny, does. Who the hell am I to challenge that?

Not saying you should question; shifting is so second nature at this point for me. Although I suppose it once was not. And I still sometimes have to think about the gear I want to be in. But not really.

I feel the same way. Hell, I even think about what the transmission is doing when driving an auto. But I guess not everyone is like that.
