Those silver sequined pants were $8k? It seemed like they were just trying to spend as much money as possible, whether or not it actually added anything to the day (like that hoodie she had on with "Future Mrs. Sutter"? please).

It was an over-the-top event, but calling it a dream wedding was ridiculous. All the pink alone made it a nightmare.

I'd also bet ABC didn't pay close to the 'real' cost of the event. Badgley Mischka likely donated the dresses, knowing what great publicity they'd get (they even got 2-3 minutes themselves on the air), and Stuart Weitzman probably donated or loaned those shoes. The necklaces Trista and her mom wore were about $750k, right? Probably loaned. ABC promised her a fabulous wedding, but not other stuff to hock later (especially after paying her and Ryan $1 million together just to appear in the wedding). The Inn at Rancho Mirage also likely cut the producers a huge deal - they couldn't have paid for that much advertising (basically a 2 hour ad for the resort and its services).

I don't understand Steinbrenner (who does). Andy gave them another chance to sign him. He clearly wanted to stay in New York. If he played for any other team, Steinbrenner would have been all over him. Makes no sense.

they already have--Nomar is either gone or will Clemens'96 it in 2004, regardless of whether A-Rod arrives, which is unlikely given Texas's insistence that the Sox take a bigger contract and pay the Rangerettes money. Even Steinbrenner isn't that dumb.

Simple. Because we don't have Brown, so we want him. We had Pettitte, so we don't want him. Make sense? Yeah. I don't get it either.

But now that Pettitte is gone, giving up Weaver for Brown is a no brainer. Some guys just can't pitch in New York, but have great success elsewhere. Look at Black Jack or Kenny Rogers. They sucked in pinstripes. Weaver was Detroit's ace (yeah, not saying much) before he got here. He must have read the papers too much, because he folded like Martin Sheen on Celebrity Poker.

If Brown can stay healthy, I'd love to have him.

I also find it hard to believe that that lineup will produce the way it did this past year. But, we'll see.

And they should have been treating Nomar like Jeter. The guy is fucking money and all of Boston knows it. He had a few bad games in the playoffs (and was almost the goat in Game 7), but he's the man and deserves better than he's getting.

If they fuck up and end up having to trade Nomar or see him walk, and don't get A-Rod, I will not for the life of me understand why.

While negotiating with A-Rod/Rangers, they should give Nomar another contract offer that's reasonable, and tell him that he needs to accept by Dec. 16, the date set by the Rangers for A-Rod. In other words--if you want to be in Boston, prove it and sign, and we'll bail on A-Rod. Otherwise, we assume your posturing is BS, designed to piss us off and that you want out. Right now, Nomar has no leverage. He gets it all back once the A-Rod deal falls through, which is what Gammons is reportedly saying will happen.

The biggest joke in all this is that none of these moves can happen because 1) agents' pride and need for "respect" (i.e., $$) for the players and 2) the players union's insistence that contracts not be renegotiated downward. Who the fuck to the players think they are: greedy associates? Yeah, I demand my $135k a year, and if you want to lower it, you should just fire me. Smart.
