How does the dog get high when your sister is gone? I can't imagine a 105 pund lab is that adept at rolling joints or packing bowls; those things have pretty big paws!

She didn't show her kiddies the movie until they turned 13. Her oldest is now at NYU studying acting.

No word on daughter's most memorable roles.

According to the CDC, more than a million people in the US have HIV for the first time since the height of the AIDS epidemic in the 80s.

I was recently at an event where they were handing out free condoms, and I remarked to a friend of mine that the timing was good since my supply was running low. He said that when he runs out of condoms, he just flips her over, grabs the lube, and starts fucking her in the ass.

This guy is generally smart, and given how much of a slut he is, I was sort of shocked that he's so cavalier about safe anal sex. Maybe he figures it's easier to catch something on the recieving end, but damn, that's not a risk I'd ever want to take either way.

Rest assured the reason you didn't enjoy was not a result of stupidity. I think it has more to do with whether or not you like philosophy. And by "like philosophy" I don't mean just paying lip service to philosophy. I mean actually reading philosophical works on occassion and getting involved in philosophical debates with your like-minded friends. Ignorance and stupidity are two different things.

I was a philosophy major in college, but my interest in it has decreased substantially over the intervening years, so I probably didn't enjoy it as much as some people out there (read: probably didn't catch all the references to philosophical works). I did, however, find the movie mildly amusing and entertaining.

Oh, and to do TM's job for him, since I'm all about grabbing his torch (ba dum bum):

Translation: I want you all to think I'm really smart.

Has anyone ever read the book "Random Family" by Adrian LeBlanc? I am reading it now and it's outstanding.

It's non-fiction, but reads like a novel almost. The author "shadowed" her main subject for over a decade, and writes about life in one of the very poorest sections of the very poor South Bronx. It is excellent.

I heard an interview with the author when the book first came out, and it sounded fascinating. I think it's on my Amazon wish list. There are about 200 books on my Amazon wish list.

ETA: I also read an interview with the author in Salon.com.

I'll move it up to top of the queue now.

Maybe he was joking? Because otherwise, I think he's too stupid to be your friend.

I just finished that about a week ago, having bought it at GCT (that's Grand Central Terminal for all of you not in TCOTU) when I had nothing to read and a long-ass subway ride home on the F. It was excellent, in a really depressing socio-economic cycle of poverty kind of way. I have no idea how LeBlanc managed to get that kind of access.

ETA: The last scene is so bittersweet/poignant that it would have made someone not quite as badass as you all know I am a little misty.

EATA: I am starting to write more and more like Gertude Stein, which is not a good thing.

Don't be jealous, paigow. RB was funny. You're funny too. It's just that you're funny in a "Is that bitch completely fucking insane or what?" way.

Is it depressing? I remember trying to read something called "Rachel and Her Children" about homeless families in New York, and I had to put it down.

I realize that this is not a good attitude. Nonetheless, that's the way I am. Probably because I am a large and lazy breed.
