This may be true as between the two of them from a relationship standpoint, but I think it's not from a legal one. Once they've reconciled (meaning they've had sex after the wronged party has found out about the affair), the slate is wiped clean. Then she's on higher ground legally b/c he's had an affair and she hasn't.
The reason I know this is my friend (who has had terrible luck with husbands) found out her husband (her first husband) had been having an affair for six of the seven years he and she had been married (he left her when she was eight months pregnant), and the cretin tried to get her to have sex with him, so that she couldn't use the affair against him in the divorce proceedings.
Thankfully, that strategy was not successful. Whew. That was ugly, I can tell you.
