I forgot all this stuff right after the bar, but if all you have is a line of credit, it's pretty irrelevant what the rate is if you convert immediately to a secured loan backed by the (car) asset. So what if the rate is 15% for two days.

Many online financing options will issue a bank draft good up to a certain amount, as does USAA bank (which I use). These work like a check, with the limitation they are only good up to the amount of the limit, printed on the face.

Last time I went car shopping, I called up USAA, who preapproved me for some amount (significantly higher than I was intending to spend) and FedExed me a bank draft good for up to (if I recall) $40k, and for ten days from issuance. I went car shopping over a weekend, found the car, filled in the correct amount, signed it and handed it over. Some places will not let the car go until a bank draft actually clears, but still accepts them as payment (i.e. doesn't require a seperate deposit).

I think E-Loan uses the same system.

I am a member of a credit union and they handle transactions much the same way. In addition, if you have an outstanding balance, they automatically roll that balance into your new loan, and the new loan's rate.

Or if I win the lottery. How should I find someone who will navigate all this auction stuff for me?

My auction guy sets up all the financing at a bank back home where they know me (small town). I just show up and sign some papers.

I'd recommend my guy, but I don't know if you're in the same part of the country. He works nationally, but shipping gets pricey.

They're still making the V6 biturbo engine abroad, huh? I thought they dropped it when they put the V8 in the S4. What a fantastic motor...

That's an old ad. If you look, it's the B5 (i.e. old body style) RS4.

Dodge this

WASHINGTON - Federal safety regulators want 600,000 Dodge Durangos and Dakota trucks recalled because their wheels could fall off, but the auto maker doesn’t believe the defect is dangerous, a company spokesman said.

Of course not. Wheels falling off? Not dangerous. At all. Just hope that you're not in the mountains, or on the freeway or anything.
