Its amazing people live to be 80 these days, considering that these wonderful baselines did not exist when these old folks started swilling booze and smokin butts in the 50s. Hell, you couldn't eat eggs for a while because of some shit some asshole scientist said.

We get too much nancy-boy the-sky-is-falling infor about our health these days, and most of its contradictory and fucked up by the press. Life's terminal. Enjoy what you want within reason and take care of yourself as best you can and you'll live as long as your genes permit. Quality, not quantity. I don't want to see 80 because I know I'll be arthritic - its in my genes. Pass me the fucking bourbon.
We are so destined to hook up in our next life. I am totally shocked that we missed each other in this one. Cheers.

Can you die from eating moldy bread? I cut the moldy parts off, but I'm not sure I got all of it. If it can kill you, I just want everyone to know that I don't want any extraordinary measures taken if there's no reasonable hope of recovery.

Did you know that white mold turns green in the toaster? Fucking preservative free shit, I bought it less than a week ago.

SHe wanted her obituary to read that she had died from cancer, because she didn't want anyone to think that after 4 years of chemo she had been hit by a bus. She threatened to come back and haunt us all if Amazing Grace was played, especially on bagpipes. And she said, "you know how they always say 'in lieu of flowers"? Fuck that. I want flowers. loads and loads of flowers."

In retrospect, having her let us know these things made it easier for us to handle the details of her funeral. Also, having her voice in our heads telling us what to do was reassuring.

Mine is easy. I want all my organs donated (well, except the ones with high fucking liver enzymes) and my body cremated within 24 hours. I want no funeral. Scatter my ashes at a few places I have listed or say "fuck it" and don't.

My husband speaks wistfully of one of those over the top cop funerals. I tell him he gets cremated in a cardboard box before they have enough time to figure out that I poisoned him and to quit whining about it already.

I also recently caught him in some Australian arthouse pic on the Sundance channel or one of the Starz channels (they're all around the same range on my cable) where he played a guy who was going to marry his best friend's Russian mistress so that she could stay in the country. He was pretty good, and managed to pull off an intimate role as well as he has pulled off his LOTR and Matrix roles. I think he's very underrated.

Well, it's certainly not covert once the Pentagon announces it. But this is the New New York Times, post-Jayson Blair.

You know what's amazing? All these people who are afraid to donate organs. there's this bizarre urban myth going around that if you're a donee, the EMTs will let you die rather than resucitate you. Unbelievable. I've actually argued with my mother about this. Its outrageously selfish NOT to be an organ donor, apart from being logically indefensible. If I were God, I'd never let non-donees into heaven.

S(and this might be the one point on which I can unequivocally say I'm not mainly, but ENTIRELY correct - get yourself listed as a donor)D

Which is why most states require a waiting period and/or state approval by the medical examiner before cremation.

Huh?
A cheap excuse for an extended soft-core porn scene, natch.

And a gross rip-off of the Lenny Kravitz "Are You Gonna Go My Way?" video, to boot.

Was it rye bread? You could be in for a really fun day. Feel free to pm me (or Sebby, or Paigs, or Slave, or Lester, or .....) if you have any questions after you start seeing tracers.

Word. I think it's almost creepy to be uncomfortable with a doctor of your own sex. (Horses/courses and all that, I [grudgingly] suppose.)

Double Word. (Or should that be "word word" -- Str8?)

A member of my family (whose identity shall remain concealed) is a male gynecologist, and, if I had ever been inclined to see a male one, hearing the condescending, patronizing, rude way he speaks about his patients has sworn me off them for good. I'm sorry, but he just can't have any idea what certain things feel like, and the capacity for understanding is simply not the same.

Not that all male gynos are like this, but -- as you say -- all other things being equal, I'll pick the chick every time.

Spoil sport. Now I have to research my way around this little loophole.
