I'm also told by some of my clients that Fish not only does it right, but if you can't pay them, they threaten to file a security interest on any IP that they've worked on for you. How nice!

The Cult's "Sanctuary" is a good standby. I'm also partial to the Smashing Pumpkins' "Frail & Bedazzled." You might try Ministry's "So What?" also.

Potential for a lot of conflict this year. How could they schedule Lyle Lovett and Black Crowes at the same time? I'm sure Sebby has some duct tape I can borrow.

Really? You are Captivate-free? No wonder you spend so much time during the day on the CNN website. All my news now comes from either The Daily Show or the blurbs on the Captivate Network in my elevator.

Today I saw the blurb that sebby discussed yesterday relating to french fries and cancer and I agree it is hooey. And the nice part is all news is condensed into 20-word soundbites.

I wish I had TVs in my elevators. *sniff*

ETA and I hadn't even read your follow-up post in which you point out that you get all your news from the elevator TVs. Like I used to. When I worked in a place with TVs in the elevator. Which I don't anymore.

There's a flatscreen in the lobby with CNN or C-Span or something on constantly, but I only pass through. I guess it's nice for the security people.

Speaking of movies, I saw the Aristocrats this weekend at the Saturday early matinee in West Boca. I was surrounded by at least a dozen residents of Del Boca Vista Phase IV, and I was wondering if maybe they were expecting Disney's Aristocats.

Within the first ten minutes, they had all left the theater; slowest of all was the gentleman pushing his oxygen tank with his home health aide walking behind him.

But I recommend the movie. It made me laugh out loud. A lot.

In other movie news, I saw Be Cool this weekend on DVD. This may actually be Vince Vaughn's finest performance. And Uma Thurman (even though she can't really dance) is very easy on the eyes.

So Anthony turned out gay, right? Or was that Durell?

With this episode 6 feet is in the clubhouse as the best HBO series. Sopranos will have to have one hell of a close out to match.

More detail on what Claire did for 20 years, and did she have kids would have been nice. But, that is a minor complaint.

Keith owns a company but still is out there doing the work. Stand up guy, huh?

These things are trite, cliche, and a waste of time. However, I had some time to kill, and completed the quiz on behalf of a friend. PLF is Mr. Brown: "I'm cool, edgy, opinionated, and a bit of a dork. I've got some skills that need improving (like that whole dodging bullets to the head thing). But, I don't worry . . . people like me because I'm offbeat and interesting."

You can't download lots of bands with back catalogs that consistently sell well. Zeppelin is not on Itunes, nor are the Beatles. The Stones just put their full catalog on Itunes recently. AC/DC, believe it or not, is one of the top ten all time worldwide in record sales. I think they’d rather just keep collecting massive chunks of change from cd sales, rather than have people shop ala carte for those two or three great songs they put out per cd.*

Itunes fucks you on song selection. You can buy every Ray Charles tune except Georgia on My Mind and if you want to buy the one tune from a record that otherwise sucked, Itunes will list that one good tune as “full album purchase only.” But on the balance, Itunes does still save you piles of dough over the long haul.
And I already own the entire AC/DC, Zeppelin and Beatles catalogs, so I don’t really care.

* There are several AC/DC cds which contain ten solid songs (Back in Black, Powerage).

I didn't realize that iTunes had the ability to force an entire album purchase. Which makes the AC/DC thing even weirder. I have no idea what the licensing terms look like, but it seems likely to me that the royalty stream to both the artist and the record company would be similar for a purchase off of iTunes as the sale of a physical CD (yeah, its cheaper to buy off iTunes, but you've got no packaging, shipping, breakage, etc. costs).

Of course, the flip side of the forcing buying an album to get a song equation is that I (probably pretty typically) am unlikely to shell out $10-18 for a single song, but I don't even think about the $1 a song they charge me for a single song. So I'd suspect on average they're losing revenue.

My major conflict is Wilco vs. Franz Ferdinand, which isn't really a conflict, because there's no way in hell I'm missing Wilco. I just sorta wish they'd put Franz Ferdinand in another spot.

I don't believe you were banned. You received commentary that perhaps your posts on the subject were boring, and a bit sachrine.

Only a few posters really pull off the "post reporting on sex life." In general, those posts are interesting because they give some extreme detail- almost kicked out of condo- sex with blonde wig in bathroom stall- gay SM sex with main moderator- something that creates an image that catches the imagination.

Your posts on the subject tended to be " 1 of us got off the plane, then we had sex, then we ate then we had sex again." It reads like time reports.

If you want to do sex posts, it will take a brave post from you given that RT is also an oldschooler.

Here's what you should do- give up one sordid detail about RT that she doesn't want people here to know. Reveal the detail in a post. Of course, that will only last 1 post, so if you do a second you'll have to give up another detail.

A friend of mine won $12,500 off of $100 in a Hold Em game at a casino in Vegas because of the Bad Beat Jackpot. Apparently (in places that have this), if Aces Full (of 10's or higher) gets beat, there is a set Jackpot that pays out. Where she was, it was a $50k jackpot and she beat Aces Full of Kings with 4 Kings (she had a pair of Ks, other player had pair of A's, board had A and 2 K's). Person who had the bad beat got 1/2 of jackpot, she got 1/4 of jackpot and the rest of the table split the other 1/4.

Anyone ever heard of this before?
