I can honestly say that in the entirety of my career as a corporate lawyer, no one has ever questioned a citation.

That said, I've heard about some really persnickity patent cases, where people questioned basic stuff like whether - was a dash or a negative sign, so precision matters.

One pair. Explain how rotating shoes helps.

The foam (or whatever the soles are made of) compresses each time you run on them. It takes time to decompress.

How many miles do you run in your shoes before you replace them? I start to notice lower back soreness when I have run 200-250 miles in a pair of shoes.

Plus what surface do you run on -- On dirt? On concrete? On a treadmill?
If I don't run half of my measly 30 weekly miles on dirt, I start to notice lower back soreness.

In the winter it's mostly sidewalks. The rest of the year on a crushed gravel path, which is usually too muddy/sloppy in the winter.

I probably put 300-400 miles on a pair. I'm only running about 60 miles/month (that was a week of running for me 20 years ago).

When I worked at the Patent Office I knew the guy who was the expert in shoes. He said never wear a pair of shoes two days in a row- and this is all shoes, not just running. The day off lets them return to normal. I can really tell the difference.

Pretty, pretty good. I really never ran regularly till I was 55. Not having that many miles on the old bod makes it harder and easier.

I’m in Burlington Vermont. Today it got 10 inches of snow. When I ran on the bike path this AM there was only 2 or 3 inches so no big deal. But in the morning? I’m not sure it is possible to run in 10 inches so it may be on roads, But it will happen. As to old body, 2 words: John Sarno.

Hey Hank, I don't know if you are a podcast kinda guy, but if so, you might like Mike Birbiglia's podcast, Working It Out. He is a storyteller, and he talks to comedians and other artists about material and technique.

Love him. I’m not a Podcast guy, but the Missus is. I’ll tell her. Last November we saw his show in NY. I believe Sleepwalk With Me started as a Moth story. EVERY storyteller looks to him as what they hope for.

I don’t know that I buy what he’s selling. When I say old, it’s old in years but not in miles. That’s the good. The bad is that I’m just learning about shit like easy runs, trails and shoe drops at 60.

My great-grandfather was a cobbler. He said the same thing. I assumed it was in part to keep him in business.

I will. It is a nice city, so I want its team to win; 1 game then lose Sunday.

By this AM they had plowed the bike path. The only other city I know that does that is TCOTU.

My sister went to college there. She rarely had classes cancelled because of weather.

We plow our bike paths (sorta). Sometimes before streets (different people and equipment, generally) causing the NIMBY types to freak out.

Fair point. Had a lawsuit a Few years back that put me there in Jan and Feb and was always able to run. Couldn’t necessarily walk on sidewalks, but could run.

My brother, his wife and their older daughter also got it. First time for two of them. Their younger daughter is somehow still negative and staying with us while they isolate.

Me, MIL, FIL (who are the two we have been trying most to protect), kid and younger niece are still team Covid-free.

For Coltrane- from a RoadRunner Sports' spam email:

Seasoned runners and walkers know that using multiple shoes helps them recover quicker, feel fresher, and keeps the bounce in their shoes longer. Here’s the lowdown on shoe rotation.

LESS INJURIES

Using more than 1 shoe gives you a 39% lower risk of having a running related injury!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A 2015 study found that rotating running shoes alters loading in the foot and kinetic chain with each different shoe. Over time, these slight variations reduce repeated abuse through the tendons, ligaments, and muscles in the body.

SAVES MONEY IN LONG RUN

Sure, it might cost more on the front end, but 2 or 3 shoes used in rotation will actually outlive the same number of shoes used one by one. Besides, having more shoes is more fun anyway.

I just got news my cancer is back. They're still figuring out which kind and all that, I'll get lung biopsy this week. I'm not yet fully public on it in places like facebook, but if you all could either pray to the divine for me if that's your thing or cus the damn disease out or whatever if that's your thing, it'd be much appreciated.

I'm sorry, and horrified, you have to go through this again. It goes without saying that I wish and send all possible positive energy in your direction.

You're a resilient fucker. And you've been on top of this. Plant those with the longest time to maturity. (If I'd known much about trees, I'd tell you which.)

Again, sorry. But in advance, here's to you making a hard run at that fucking disease and winning again.

It was one of my favorite feeds to follow because it was so full of life and someone doing what he clearly loved. And it was beautiful. He took great photos that really captured the natural beauty around him. And many of the pictures were action shots of the various bike trails he was on. It was hard to reconcile his illness with his absolute love of life. He'd posted in January that his numbers at the oncologist's office were doing great, and I (and I assume everyone else) had assumed that he was otherwise healthy.

I'll miss him a lot, even though we never managed to connect in real life. Once, he was going to come down to Houston for a depo, and we'd have drinks. But it got cancelled, and I never had cause to go up to Minnesota

Oh no. He and I had messaged about his diagnosis. He had told me that his most recent numbers were good. Just devastating.

Thanks, guys.

Sorry to bring the board down. Maybe talk about something uplifting, like it having been almost 24 hours now since the last story about a Supreme Court member getting a little off-the-books payola.

Also, are you all really excited about "coronation quiche" or what?

The Westminster Dog Show is a much more pleasant celebration of inbreeding. And it’s EST.

I’m still grappling with the highlights of CNN’s town hall of last evening. Was it Elvis’ comeback concert? Or is this the Buckley vs. Vidal “Firing Line” of our age? Enquiring minds will never know.

So in one sense, politically, and from a media perspective:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hoyAKCDPnFo

But from another, more street level view:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...high-2022.html

Maybe just ignore the news. Ignore Washington entirely. Maybe that’s the future. Let them eat… their own ratings.
