Posts like these that make me wonder what paigow will be like when she is great with child. OTOH, given the disaster the world narrowly averted the last time with the whole Ambassador Thorn incident, I suppose it's better not to risk it.

Less posted it on the FB.
I have not seen it as it is not work safe - I'm sure.

My ass was not in FHM. I am more muscularish than she - in both the thigh/calf area and the shoulders. I can pick up a full box of documents and lift it over my head. Take that Danica!!

  • New (that "people who buy new cars are suckers" shit is NOT helpful here)
  • manual transmission
  • no American, Swedish or Korean makes (to the extent they were not already eliminated from consideration by previous requirement)
  • does not look fucking recockulous when driven by gray-haired gentleman (i.e., no Boxsters or tricked-out Minis)

that you would buy at each of the following price points:
  • $35K
  • $40K
  • $45K

Winner gets to pick my dad's next car. People suggesting Audis will have to make a more extensive case, as the car will likely be leased and I've already made the point that greater depreciation of Audis makes them more spendy on leases. I'm desperately trying to talk him out of buying a second SUV, so you're doing God's work by replying before noon on Tuesday.

Please please please don't fight the hypo --- I'm not going to convince a 60 year old man to drive a sport wagon. This means you, AdL.
How about the G35 sedan? Or, if he's not wedded to a stick shift, an M35/M45? Or, if he wants something at the lower end of the price spectrum, a Subaru Legacy GT (don't laugh until you've driven one).

I've heard great things about the G35 coupe from SF's boy racer crowd, but the only thing I've heard the sedan has going for it is RWD. Anyone driven one? Anyone here own an Infiniti, for that matter?

I have driven most of the Infinitis. They feel tight and are strong. Nothing remarkable, but they are good cars. I didn't like the manual transmission; it didn't have enough feedback in the clutch and shifter for my tastes.

I liked the Murano/FX, too, but I guess those are SUVs. They're really more of a wagon, though.

I have driven then entire Infiniti line. I also like the Murano, except for the fact that the interior is a little cheap looking and the window sills are way too high.

The G35 is a total boy racer car. The interior was designed to appeal to 20yo's. While it is better this year, it still doesn't have much adult appeal. The wheels are very nice and it handles like a champ - I just couldn't bear to look at the interior every day though.

For the M, Automobile says that the M is incredibly stiff, suspension is incredibly damped and the brakes are fab. And they hated the steering. They gave it a meh rating.

I take it your comments are directed at the G35 coupe just as mine were. My impressions of the G35 sedan* are that it's a good choice for people who want straightforward Japanese reliability combined with RWD. Infiniti seems to be the only Japanese RWD, although with all of the auto press criticism of modern high-HP engines mated with FWD (a technology that made perfect sense with early '80s engines), my guess is Acura will also move to RWD for at least one of its sport sedans in the next five years.

*I do not understand why Infiniti thought it wise to give them the same model names, given how little they have in common.

Owned a G35 coupe. Loved it. I think that the comments about the dash being too boy racer-ish are overstated.

Likes:

- Power, sound, and feel of a small block V8
- Handling
- Braking
- Ergonomics
- Snickety-snick 6 speed manual
- Not one of the 50,000,000 325s around DC

Dislikes:

- High beltline
- Heavy clutch with not much feedback
- Tiny, tiny, tiny trunk

This is definitely one I would consider for myself in the $32K-$35K category, but my impression was that it gets really pricey when you option it up, which is not true of the Acura TL (admittedly a quite different car, but arguably a competitor) because Acura's philosophy is to offer it all as standard equipment. The only options on TL are 5sp/auto, summer/all-weather tires, and nav/no nav.

I've often wondered whether an all-options TL is actually cheaper than an all-options Accord.
