In this customized Chrysler 300C, ASC thinks it has hurdled the primary stumbling blocks to such a vehicle--namely side-impact safety and structural rigidity--through the use of items such as an innovative bulkhead and what they call "tunnel doublers."

If you sign before Oct 15, you get a free ho slapping glove and a ruby studded chalice for your Thunderbird.

No, I know the nissan emblem thingy, and I know that infiniti is not a horse. This had a rearing horse on the back, that I recognized as being the emblem I see on really really really expensive-looking sports cars, of which I see many as I drive thru beverly hills and when their owners slum in my BHA neighborhood. I had to check lamborghini and maserati before I remembered that ferarri is one of those types of cars too. It was the ferarri horsie.

I suppose it is possible that someone stuck a ferarri horsie on the back of some other exactly-that-color-bright-red SUV, but whatever. I kind of doubt it.

You'd be surprised, actually. When I was growing up, there was a guy who had a couple of Fieros, painted with Ferrari colors, with a Ferrari grille slapped on it, plus a silver prancing horse emblem and a yellow prancing horse sticker.

Remember, if you're in the LA area these days, you're in the home of West Coast Customs and other shops. For Pimp My Ride, WCC turned an old Ford Escort into a pseudo BMW 3 series, including grafting the entire front clip from a 3 series onto the car.

I'm counting on this. When my Audi turns 10, I'm gonna turn it into a classic Masarati.

Ps. I heart Xzibit.

I wasn't in the LA area.

Whatever. It caused severe cognitive dissonance, I stared at it for quite a while, I didn't even know what brand the horsie goes with and it took me a while to even come up with Ferarri (ferrari?) as an option, and I looked at Lamborghini and Maserati shit (neither of which have an SUV), and then when Ferrari popped into my mind as an option, up popped stuff from several months ago about a possible Ferrari SUV, and it *just happened* to look like what I saw two or three weeks ago.

But I'm sure it was a big coincidence.

Or, all those people speculating on two different car message boards saw the same thing I saw.

New designs and products and designs frequently are subjected to road tests in all kinds of locations. It would be a big slip for them to put a badge on a test model. Unless, of course, Ferrari is concerned about Porsche, Mercedes, et.al. entry into the market and the "mistake" was designed to generate buzz.

OMG!

Except really it looked more like this:

http://automobiles.honda.com/images/...ery/large1.jpg

to the extent that either of those look like this:

http://www.weblogsinc.com/common/ima...51175954635606

which is fairly distinctive.

Wait, maybe really what I saw was this:

but in red with a horse stuck on the back, and so I didn't notice it looked TOTALLY DIFFERENT than the picture I originally posted.

I'm sure Alex posted a picture of it a few months ago. I remember seeing it here.

Um.... Burger was trying to be helpful to you. Fiat and Ferarri are part of the same corporate family, so it's a little plausible. It wouldn't be the first time that one borrowed from the other.

Yes, but it didn't look anything like that. There was no black crap all over the bottom, it was just red. It's a pretty obvious and significant difference.

TM posted a picture on the FB.

But, like I said, whatever.

I'm giving this up because it would be sad to waste 10k on it.

Yes. You're right. Fiat does not permit red as a color choice. And it has a special paint coating that prevents placing a prancing horse ferrari logo on the back.

What you're claiming to have seen is a final, pre-production version--not prototype, not a mule, not disguised with loads of deceptive cladding--of a car Ferrari asserts is only under consideration and has not been approved by Fiat, its corporate parent, for production.

Of course, as you say, you're a car person, so I'm sure what you saw is the same as what some enterprising photoshopper produced.

FWIW, I believe you.

And I don't think they look that different, if you substitute body colored panels for the bottom cladding.

OTOH, the scale looks all wrong between the two pictures. The Fiat's pretty small, smaller than I'd imagine Ferarri would use as a platform.
