Yeah, in the 1970s or 80s, right up through the period when I was at the Party, a lot of Dems would have openly supported limits on birth control (Catholic influence) and most Republicans would have supported them (the Right to Life influence and the effort to pull Catholics from the Democratic Party). It's easy to forget how recent this all was.

Ray Flynn, the first truly progressive mayor of Boston back then, came back from being Ambassador to the Vatican a total right wing nutcase, and still wanders around Southie muttering shit about how abortion and birth control are evil.

We're in the middle of a project to fix our laws to get rid of the old stuff like this right now, and its supported both by the Republican Governor and the Dems.

What is a states rights issue and what can be federally legislated seem to be quite arbitrary categories.

I flew Thursday and back Monday, my first flights since the mask mandates were lifted. I think it provides feedback on how many people believe in value to mask wearing. I'd guess 10% of the people were wearing them. Keeping in mind, there was no medical statement that it doesn't make sense to wear a mask in an airport or plane, just that the mandate was no longer in force.

It's truly insane. Such a tiny little thing you can do to protect yourself and the overwhelming majority won't do it.

1) As a Judge once said to me "that is a clever argument, but you can't show that is why the party acted that way." I am fairly sure 90% of America is not relying on that.

2) At first vaccines were supposed to be 95% effective in preventing contracting Covid, so I'm not sure what a 2020 study proves.

Are you wearing a mask everywhere you go, e.g., restaurants, grocery stores, Walgreens, etc.? This is not a question for Adder, because it seems like he is.

Also, it is sometimes relatively easy to distract some judges with shiny objects, but I think you know this.
