I hope to fuck that the majority of this is from Google searches, and that this board does not in fact collectively have an encyclopedic knowledge of Rush's oeuvre.

Was there really more than one version? Because now that you say Godley & Creme, I remember that in the lower left-hand corner of the TV, and I think it was just that they mentioned that they were in 10cc that made me think it was 10cc.

translation: I wanted to be bestest.

I was praying they would edit out the warbling Donna Jean in the newly released directors cut.

Hell, even I would have donated to PBS for that.

Have you ever seen blonde pubes under a blacklight? Fuuuuck. Seriously trippy. I was caught in the moment. "Welcome to the Machine" always gets me so fucking horny.

I can never accept mere fellatio.

I feel this way about The Last Schmaltz. Its funny Clapton always gushes about Music From Big Pink. It might be the only thing in rock history more overrated than his guitar playing.

WHile researching the lyrics to my favorite Rush Song Ever, I learned taht people who bought the album Signals were likely to also buy music from Yes and Dream Theater. Now, I don't know who Dream Theater is, but Owner of a Lonely Heart is a song that requires the injestion of pot to enjoy it. Horrible without it, brilliant with it.

ENJOY, And I hope this will erease The Things We Do For Love for our collective heads.

Lit up with anticipation
We arrive at the launching site
The sky is still dark, nearing dawn
On the Florida coastline

Circling choppers slash the night
With roving searchlight beams
This magic day when super-science
Mingles with the bright stuff of dreams

Floodlit in the hazy distance
The star of this unearthly show
Venting vapours, like the breath
Of a sleeping white dragon

Crackling speakers, voices tense
Resume the final count
All systems check, T minus nine
As the sun and the drama start to mount

The air is charged
A humid, motionless mass
The crowds and the cameras,
The cars full of spectators pass
Excitement so thick you could cut it with a knife
Technology...high, on the leading edge of life

The earth beneath us starts to tremble
With the spreading of a low black cloud
A thunderous roar shakes the air
Like the whole world exploding

Scorching blast of golden fire
As it slowly leaves the ground
Tears away with a mighty force
The air is shattered by the awesome sound

Like a pillar of cloud
The smoke lingers high in the air
In fascination
With the eyes of the world
We stare...

The 23-y-o had no what I was talking about w/r/t a song called "The Things We Do For Love" or the snippet of lyrics, but thought he might recognize it if he heard it.

So someone needs to get me a recording, ASAP.

Did you sing it for him or just recite the lyrics? You have to sing the "rain and the snow and there's nowhere to go and [real high] you're feelin' like a part of you is dyin'" part. I bet you didn't sing it.

I IMed him. I did not sing it. However, if someone were to get me a recording of it, I would play it for him and see if it rang any bells.

Or, if he's really really good, I might consider just singing it for him. He may be in loooooooove though, in which case I won't be seeing him anytime soon.

Speaking of dork, can someone explain to me how the Mars Volta got so popular amongst the hipster doofus circuit?

Half of "Frances the Mute" sounds like B-sides from Yes' "Relayer"

You know, the "walking through the rain and the snow and there's nowhere to go and you're feeling like a part of you is dying..." song. Born sometime in the 80s maybe? I mean, you couldn't turn on an AM radio in the seventies without that song being on. Am I wrong here?

Can we ban people who claim not to know that song from posting here on the basis that they are not possibly old enough to be a lawyer?
Can you humm the tune really loudly? I am not getting it by reading the words.
