It's all political, now, and execs at those big companies are pretty red.

It's not "political" if 90% of the people aren't wearing one.

Icky doesn't succumb to peer pressure. Most people smoked in the 1950s.

The initial observation appears to have been correct: https://www.cshl.edu/famotidine-clin...tom-reduction/

I wonder if this made my recovery easier. Classic Covid came in hard, but left damn quickly. Unfortunately, Pepcid sucks at acid reduction compared to proton pump inhibitors.

I'm 47 and may be getting heartburn for the first time. WTF is this shit?

This just isn't true any more. Sure, there were a lot of open questions at the beginning, but now it's pretty well established and studied.

People just don't like the results of those studies, which say that masking and social distancing can be highly effectively. Staying home and reading Boccaccio works.

Generally agree, although I find it interesting that my kids' school had a mask mandate until a few months ago, and there doesn't seem to be any substantive difference in positive cases after it was lifted. Most kids aren't wearing masks now.

On that note, I may have to attend an event that I can't miss the night before a scheduled colonoscopy. Do I wear a diaper to the event?

I need to schedule mine - thanks for the reminder.

No disagreement there. I think most educated/vaxxed people are aware of the risks and the efficacy of masks - and many of the healthy ones have simply decided not to wear one because the risk, for them, of ending up in the hospital is extremely low.

Asking humans to give a shit about other humans they don't know never works.

Some do. Some people wipe their sweat off the machines at the gym when they're done. Some don't.https://gist.plex.tv/wp-content/uplo.../09/no-way.gif

I am one of the few people I know who hasn't had it (or hasn't tested positive for it). Entire family had it and I didn't get it. Numerous tests. I assume it's because I am a superhuman.

Same here, and I am the one who goes out to restaurants and bars the most. I also flew on planes at least 10 times in the last 2 years.

I also got the 4th shot.

I also am flying to the UK in three weeks - no masks required on the plane or the UK pubs (so I can see al the bad teeth).

Mine was just the headache. We were super careful at that stage, to the point my husband took a two week sabbatical from work to stay away from the public right as Omicron was starting up. Given how contagious it was, we could have picked it up, but it would have been an extremely mild case.

My whole family was isolating in the country together for nearly two years when my brother brought it to them in mid-January. Everyone but one of my sisters tested positive.

For the bulk of them, it was a cold with fever. The two year old got cuddly and happy that she could eat as much ice cream as she wanted. The 82 year old--the one for whom everyone had been super careful--was the LAST to test positive, with almost no symptoms. Just allergies if he hadn't known better.

My parents came back to Houston to ride it out, just in case they needed hospital care, but they were fine.

I guess by now the 90 days of additional immunity from having had it are more or less expired. If I had it, baby Kanan would have gotten immunity from my booster in August and then maybe the disease in January.

It doesn't help that we never really told people to switch to real masks either.

My county is now asking politely that people mask up indoors; work, school, shopping. Not a mandate, but they would sure like it if you complied.

And in other news, I have a cold for the first time in over two years.

I’ve genetic predisposition to it. When I was young it drove me nuts.

Best advice is stick with unprocessed protein, vegetables, and avoid sugar and complex carbs. That seems to limit it.

Silver lining: It’ll keep you skinny. You’ll never even attempt to put down a bowl of pasta.

Right. Giving out free good masks would have helped.
