I have eaten and cooked a fair amount of barbecue, although certainly not enough to claims the expertise of a Southerner. Lutefisk, on the other hand, I have never eaten nor "cooked."

Let's spend a few seconds in Adder's mind: I like to provide people with information. Sometimes I do it by typing on a keyboard. Other times I move my lips and make sounds over the telephone. I have never eaten an ant, but I have killed one. I don't think it was cruel because it was in my house and it died quickly. I like sunshine. I wear both shoes and sneakers, but never at the same time. If colors were numbers, my favorite number would be blue. 1 2 3 4 5 blue 7 8 9 10. I don't think colors should be numbers. I have stubbed my toe many times, but can't tell you just how many. Don't worry, I am okay. It has been 2 minutes since I last shared a thought--better wait another 10 seconds. Which thought should I type? I know. How about: It is cold in Minnesota. Yes. I will go with that.

Good chance that will be the choice. Smitty's closes too early. Need me to pick anything up for you if I make it?

That was good, although it got a little too meta at the end.

By the way, it is cold in Minnesota. Quite cold for this time of year.

Have you ever eaten an aunt? We know what Hank's answer would be.

Yes, but not one of my own. Or of Hank's. To my knowledge.

ETA: more on Snow's.

And more. Favorite quote on this one:

I suppose for beef barbecue it's okay to use tomato-based sauce . . . . It's just that in my mind, "bbq" means North Carolina barbecue. That's it.

Enjoy -- the place sounds like a legend already. I'm not sure I'd want to get there early enough and eat all that Texas bbq that early, though. Three pounds of brisket at 10am?

TM, I've never had the maple butter. I don't like to mask the flavor of all the oil that has soaked into the cornmeal. . . . Glad it was a good experience overall, though.

Gatti, have you found any place in SoCal that makes good hushpuppies? Because I can get someone to ship some "minced, with slaw" from Doumar's in Norfolk or the like.

Charlie Brown, drawn in Sin City style. Kickass.

Unlike Tulsa, that's the seemy underbelly of Memphis bbq. Why would you get BBQ bologna in Memphis? That's like the assjacks from Kansas I heard on my flight back from Hawaii complaining about the low-quality steak they had at all their meals.

True. Just don't say that in Texas.

True. Spam is really the specialty of the Aloha State. Nothing says breakfast quite like grilled Spam, sticky rice and eggs.

YOu get the bbq bologna once, so that you can say you have had the experience. Then you wash the taste of that shit out your mouth with a big cold beer and eat some real food.
