Much easier to read than Infirmation. Anyone else care to join me over here?

Sebastian, long time no hear. How's Philly treating you?

Thanks for showing up, Junkie. Your board is the only one I still occasionally follow on infirm. It would make my life easier if you could drag everybody over here.

As for me, just a wannabe ex-lawyer. Coming up fast on partnership, with all indications being it will happen very soon as long as I don't fuck up and kiss a little more ass. At the same time, my motivation is rEdiculously low. Just not too interested in anything I'm doing. And the goddam powerball didn't come through.

Thanks. Of course I can't drag anyone anywhere, but I can lead by example.

I will say that, in my limited observation, having a partner title in hand opens up a whole new world of professional opportunities, but mostly on the legal (vs. non-legal) side. You get seriously considered for GC spots at all kinds of cool corporations, funds and organizations that you wouldn't have been offered otherwise. The reason to leave just before the partnership decision should be driven by your expectation of that decision, not whether you're all of a sudden sick of BIGLAW -- if you've made it that far and you think that odds are good, then hold out a bit longer and get something valuable to trade up or out with.

Formerly samspayed here. I use this moniker on other fora, so I thought I'd simplify my life.

Better visibility here without the google ads. But what's with the emoticons?

Mostly, people don't use them.

Welcome!

This is what keeps me switching industries every two to three years. Sadly, I can only report all of law is dull. It just is, and there's nothing I can do about it.

Philly's growing and changing everyday. I'm searching for the proper way to describe watching and experiencing it...

Have you ever left a jar of mayonaisse outside in July?

nytjunkie 10-21-2005 12:42 PM

No, but I do have the pleasure of tip-toe-ing around garbage bags left on the sides of NYC streets in the heat of the summer. Now I get to dodge and weave the stroller around 'em.

At least Philly's getting the benefits of an invasion by Southwest Airlines against USScare. I like JetBlue, but JFK Airport's a major shlep from downtown.

I just had the utter misfortune of flying Southwest from Philly (nonstop) to Oakland.

Trust me - having Southwest is NOT a good thing.

Who's good, then? I've had 2 people tell me Northwest sucks this week, and one who told me a horrible story about KLM in Europe (which is usually pretty good). Now we hate Southwest and US Air. Are any of them decent anymore (in addition to JetBlue, it sounds)?
