I think you're thinking of a Roomba. If you ever watched TV you would recognize the Dyson as the vac with the guy who resembles Sting lamenting the loss of suction. It is currently the chic vac to have.
Ty, I think it doesn't live up to its hype or price. A recent rating (CR?) I saw placed it way down the list. You can get two better vacs for the price of one Dyson.
And with a shedding dog, you should NOT get a bagless vac. Emptying the cup (frequently) is messy and inconvenient and the dirt seems to get all over the vac's mechanical works, which I would bet shortens its lifespan.
