i did not have one of the giant morrissey posters up in my college dormroom, though the girl across the hall from me did and the guy next door did too.

At least he's done something interesting.
I cannot figure out what was so good about the Smiths. I can sorta get the Cure, I understand contemporaries like the Jesua and Mary chain and can even see some fleeting value in the Souxie and Banshees garbage, but the Smiths always struck me as a listless flat soft-rock garage band.
They fall into what I'd call the "Steely Dan" category - things people and critics say I should like, but I just don't get.
