Being free to be the leading scorer in Denver is not the same as fitting into the Pistons and helping. But the pick is hard to understand.

The only thing that helps me is I thought Dumars was crazy when he traded Stackhouse and fired Carlisle, and it turns out he was right. Dumars picked Darko, and I'm hoping someday it'll make sense. I don't think Dumars would screw up such a good pick for a racial reason. Consider when he picked up Rashid he traded our no. 2 shooting guard (white) and reduced Okur from starting to often getting a DNP. No white guys get on the court. Dumars did that, and I don't think he would have hacked a 2nd pick to make some token show.
Well, I think you're right about Carmelo. He wouldn't have fit into to Detroit's game plan very well. Apparently he plays some pretty poor defense.

As far as Darko goes, not every 18 year old is going to be good enough to play right away in the NBA. Garnett wasn't. Jermaine O'Neal wasn't. Many people still think Darko will be very good in a few years.
